College station is an awesome college town.
Visited many, many, many times throughout college. It is definitely a college town.
Not a huge Northgate fan. I have fun when I go there, but I would take Dickson every time. I would also take Fayetteville every time, too.

I will give this a go but I'm not going to rank them:
Columbia, SC - Beautiful. Nice campus and I had a great time up there when I went. Hard to say whether it was the group I was with or the town itself.
Athen, GA - have fun every time I go up there. I love the campus and the stadium is really nice. I believe it is the largest grouping of bars?
Auburn, AL - My Alma Mater. I love it but it has changed a lot since I graduated. Still have a blast every trip.
Turdville, AL - Been once and had a great time. That said, it is a little too greek oriented for my tastes in a big university.
Starkville - Oof. You know there isn't a lot to do when you end up at a shithole Wal-Mart at 3 in the morning and you have to convince a gas station clerk that you are asking where a bar is, not a whore house.
Oxford - Really nice.
Fayetteville - Never made the trip.
Kentucky - Never made the trip.
Knoxville - My second least favorite campus in the SEC. Not sure why I hated it, just didn't feel right.
Gainesville - Been to the Swamp as an Auburn man and as a Seminole and had fun as both. I took more shite as a Seminole in the early 90s, but still a solid college town with a lot of nice "scenery".
Baton Rouge - I would list BR as my most overrated campus that I have been to. Hit several bars when we were there and wasn't impressed with any of them.
Nashville - good times.
Of course Auburn would be number 1 on my list but that is due to obvious bias, but Athens is easily my second favorite overall.

I've had fun going out in AU and UA. My only complaint with UA is everything is so spread out.

Not a college town. It's a city that happens to have a college in it

Oxford is fun as a trip, but that's about it. Bars close way too early and the Grove is fun, but I wouldn't want to tailgate there every home game.

I've only been to Oxford, BR and Nashville. Comparing Nashville to any college town is similar to comparing Austin to a college town, it makes no sense. I love Nashville though and would definitely live there. College Station isn't the prettiest place, but I preferred it's bars and bar scene to Oxford and BR's for sure. Oxford was really pretty but really small, and I had fun in BR but haven't been back in a while. CS has awesome golf as well and it seems like many people have yet to discover it.
