I don't think I've ever seen a coach strive to be JUST average like Nutt did. Every coach wants to be the best and talks about wanting to be the best. I don't recall Nutt ever saying that.

Believe it or not, when he was first hired at Arkansas he had cameras come into the meeting room when he first met with the team. The opening was him not saying anything walking over to the chalk board (this was 1998, Whiteboards were not popular yet, don't judge us) and wrote "National Championship". He then stood there in silence for a moment and told the team that is what Arkansas has competed for in the past, should be competing for in the present, and should be competing for in the future".

Now this wasn't our worse team of the 90s he was talking too, but it wasn't the best either, this was the first time I said the man was a "fricking retard".

When he got to Ole Miss all he said was about making bowl games...

Nutt:"We are going to more of a passing offense now that David Lee is gone, he was more of a running coach"

Four years later... Nutt hires Lee back to improve our passing game.

We all need to compare notes and do a book.

I don't have notes, I lived this nightmare.

I have several friends who played for him, one was "the state's best line backer that year" according to Nutt. He gets to Fayetteville after Nutt told him he would be playing outside backer (He was undersized, but what else would you expect?)

This was before Rivals/Scout/etc., his other best offer was Tech and Nutt added "offers" for the blurb in the paper about the recruiting class for him that included a few other SEC schools, this is when I knew things were not going to go well...

Not that Rivals/Scout/etc. has changed the possibility of these "false offers" from occurring since their information on the matter is one sided (the recruits)...

I put the eye on him after the Tenn. game in 2000. I just knew things were amiss.

Well just got back from Nashville. The game was a bit ugly but I had a fun time. Didn't really see many Wake fans at all, but they did have some cute women. I am kinda pissed off that the $8 Papa John's Pizza I got at the stadium didn't even taste fully cooked

Looked like it was about 95% State fans on TV.

Congrats on the win.

Thanks, and I think you were right. Total attendance was around 55k and maybe 5k of them were Wake fans. Also noticed that the Wake mascot has the bowtie attached to his chin.
