I've narrowed it down to three reasons based on the person.

1) Took Nutts side in the Nutt/Malzahn conflict
2) Not a fan of anything associated with Shiloh Christian /Ronnie Floyd
3) Pissed at the audacity Gus had to come back and recruit Arkansas when he went to Auburn.

All seem pretty petty and stupid.

The whole thing is. Gus bleeds Razorback red and white but bitter fans will always keep him from his dream job.

So your three things were a hypothetical as to why fans wouldn't support him?

Hard to argue with the productivity his offenses have had.

Realistic Options that may be true:

1. Butch Davis (former UNC Coach)

2. Sun belt Coach (I've narrowed it down to 3 for different reasons. Gus Malzahn (Arky St.), Rick Stockstill (Middle Tenn.), Mark Hudspeth (ULL)

The Usual Suspects when any job is open that people talk about:

1. Skip Holtz (USF)- His Dad did coach at Arky

2. Paul Rhoads (Iowa St.)- Rhoads and the AD worked together at Pitt

3. Charlie Strong (Louisville)

Yeah all hypothetical but those are what it usually boils down to at the end if the day.

The best scenario would be to play this season with an interim coach and wait on a larger pool of available coaches. The only problem is that it would all but wipe out the 2013 recruiting class. Above average players are not going to be receptive to a program that doesn't know who their head coach is going to be.

Man, so much baggage from a recruiting and mental standpoint. Good coach, but hot water awaiting.

Yeah those would make sense.

if by productivity you mean having his parade high school player of the year quarterback throw 2 passes in the game against Arkansas and both of them be picked off, yes you are right he is productive.

he is a shitty head coach who cant' develop QB's and his only chance in hell is to have a Heisman guy in the backfield. when he doesn't have a dmac/felix or cam his offense is quite easy to shut down

if he is there im' done. it would be nothing more than a NWA power play and if that is what is going on Arkansas isn't serious about winning

though the irony of keihl and deyer being at auburn and A state and gus being at Arkansas would not be lost upon me at all

I agree. Tyler Wilson isn't really the guy that worries me with Gus, but he's a hell of an offensive mind with the system guys of his.

while i agree, that's not fair to the 2012 seniors and players like knile who came back and cobi who came back and tyler who came back. someone owes it to those kids to look out for their interest now because bobby sure as hell did not.

it would not be fair at all to just blow this all up on them. i can't get behind that. this team is put together to win now.

Got stats? I'd love to see the difference in Auburns offensive production after Gus arrived (and we can exclude Cam's year if it makes you happy).

I'm in the minority here but a Butch Davis defense with either Paul Petrino or Chris Klenakis running the offense makes me absolutely giddy.

This Arkansas team will be fairly talented and expectations are around at least a top 15 team. If an interim coach performs near that top 15 level then Arky will be stuck with that interim coach. I think an interim coach is mistake. The interim coach won't have proven he can recruit or develop his own players. An interim coach will likely end up being a sentimental favorite if he wins but won't necessarily be a big time coach.
