Because MSU will have legitimately beaten every team they faced on the field. They have received no advantage and are actually now at a disadvantage because of what happened on the other side.
But who's to say that NC State wasn't the better team and would've beaten Mississippi St?
That's why you have to put an asterisk on this one IMO

Vandy barely beat a NC State team that had 3 pitchers, and one playing first base. Who I might add killed it at the plate. State rolls here bring the first NC trophy to Starkvegas
