Just my take on a few things after getting back from Knoxvegas.
Bama is damn impressive. As much as the Auburn alum/fan in me hates to say it, the crystal football could easily end up back in Tuscaloosa this year. The Bama/LSU game is going to be amazing, but right now I have to give Bama the edge.
Unless there is a real fluke, I don't see anyone being able to hang with Bama or LSU in the BCSCG. Wisky may keep it close (under 14 points) but I think anyone else (including OU) lose by 3 TDs.
Auburn's defense finally stepped up to make some plays. Now (as with last year) the team just needs to learn to put it all together in one game. If the offense would click like it was against USU and MSU, and the defense would play like they did Saturday, the second half of the season could be a lot of fun.
No idea why Spurrier didn't use the TO on the 1st down. I know to a lot of people it was another "lucky break" for AU, but LSU proves against Ole Miss you can't snap the ball and spike it wit 1 second on the clock.
From section N at Neyland, the Vols look to have some promise. Bray still needs to work on going through his reads, looking off defenders and not locking on to his #1 target. The kid has an arm, no doubt about that, but he still has some learning to do. I was calling out where the ball was going 75% of the time at the snap, and first play of the game the corner slides in for a blitz of the offensive right side, he ignores it and still goes with his primary on the left.
Also, I am learning that idiot fans are not limited to the states of Alabama and Louisiana nor are they all on message boards somewhere. Some of the calls on the Sports Animal call in yesterday morning were palm to head type moments.

I agree with everything you said there. Bama is amazing on defense, and TR is a friggin BEAST!

It's in Tuscaloosa so it's expected that Bama will have an edge.

quote:He didn't have a TO. He should have used it on the previous play that wasn't a first down...they burned like 20 seconds...and as bad as Garcia was, he was looking over at the visor asking if he should call a TO...that one is on Spurrier.

Durhhhh. What I meant to say is I don't know why he burned it on the previous one. Didn't they get a first down and then use the last TO?
In that situation, get up, spike it and keep the TO in the pocket.

Yes...but just before, they came up short and didn't use it and burned a bunch of time. I understood why they were throwing up the middle on the drive...until the last play. That had to be a 10-12 yard and out(of bounds). The play had worked over the middle before and they thought they could hit it again and stop the clock.
You know, Auburn did a pretty damn good job of stopping the run so I don't get the criticism there...but I am really suprised they didn't find ways to get Latt involved in the passing game...besides that one overthrown wheel route. I don't think they threw him a single screen. WTF? I really expected it on that last drive...you know the D is going to be keeping the play in front of them...why would you not get it to Latt in space?
Whatever...I'm glad they didn't.
