WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department says the Obama administration is considering a number of steps that would look into the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series.

Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote in a letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch Friday that the department will determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the letter.

Hatch, a Republican from Utah, had requested such an investigation.

Weich said the administration is looking at several other options, including asking the Federal Trade Commission to review the legality of the BCS under consumer protection laws.

Several lawmakers and many critics want the BCS to switch to a playoff system, rather than the ratings system it uses to determine the teams that play in the college football championship.

Well honestly I wish they'd just do shite like this day in and day out.. They've created most of the problems we're dealing with now, so I'd rather them have the BCS as an agenda for the remainder of the year.. Maybe a market correction could occur this way

Exploring the legality of hundreds of millions of dollars of interstate commerce seems pretty important.

I wish they would spend ALL of their time on stuff like this - that would give them less time to wreck the country.

You people are ridiculous. Really. If the man corrected every problem that there is in this country, you'd still find something to bitch about. He's the fricking President. He was legally elected by a clear cut majority of U.S. citizens. Get over it already.

You do realize that Obama voted for all of this spending when he was a Senator. So, he's partly responsible for the deficit before he took over as President, and as President he's run it up even worse.

Well this is where people go wrong.. To believe the government will fix the problems is asinine.. Without the big problems, government serves little to no purpose.. Legislation is the key to keeping citizens in submission..

Like I said I'm not an Obama supporter or a Democrat.. I support fiscal responsibility and social freedoms above all else.. I'm not here to place blame, but there's no reason we should be $10 trillion in debt.. That's grounds for a revolution if you ask me.. But most people are apathetic so it doesn't matter anyway..
