It was the situation of the play call that was so dumbfounding.

I have never seen a fake punt called at midfield of a game that was tied with 3 minutes to go. (And the defense was in punt safe to boot). That was what made it so strange. Never seent that b4 yo.

Never.

Didn't like or agree with the call. That said, Kirby and staff got this young team prepared and fired up to go toe-to-toe with Bama. No one gave them a shot and they exceeded all expectations. That we were even in that opportunity shows that UGA is a program that is not a one hit wonder. They will compete for years to come. I'm not sure if UGA has ever "reloaded" in recruiting. Always seemed to be "rebuilding". 2019, we reload.

I'll defer to Kirby.

Good memory.

I think he felt he'd have to pull out all the stops to win the game. In my opinion, I'd understand it better if you had an exceptional FG kicker. But I think I would have rather taken the chance of stopping you short of a gimme FG in that spot. My biggest question is why wouldn't you think Bama would be looking for it with JF on the field.

That happened in the 2nd qtr of a 0-0 game. Last night’s was at midfield, tie game and 3:00 left.

It was 4th and 21 from the 20 on the opening possession

Agreed. When I saw Fields lined up, I knew it was a fake. I was in shock considering the entire situation, and I hoped like hell they would call a timeout. It all happened in slow-mo for me. Still can’t believe the call

You are correct, it was a read not a called fake

Mac Wilson pointed out the uncover. Was never going to work.

I would take Deandre Swift against man coverage from Mac Wilson.

Are you kidding me?

The play was designed to go against punt safe. Too many people are focused on the word "fake". It wasn't a fake. It was an isolation play to our best player. Would you rather an up back make the throw? Or Fields?

Fields is a great thrower. But he tucks at the first sign of stress.

Even with recognition, I would take Swift against man coverage from a linebacker all the time, every time. The QB just has to sack up and let it rip.

Going into the game, UGA needed 35 points to secure a win. That was the reasonable number to win in regulation. At that point of the game, it still was the target.

Bama's offense is too good to hold to 21 or 28 points.

I don't mind the call. And the play call only cost us 28 yards. Hurts drove 52 yards in 5 plays and 2 minutes.
In reality, we got the minute back on the clock because of the field position.
