I believe we had 10 teams in bowl games....you are not going to win every game....out of all the losses the most disappointing was UT. Most surprising was Ole Sis, but congrats to them. Join the SEC, but you better bring that Jstrap

You were surprised we kicked OSU's arse?

I was surprised how God awful their offense played at times, and still won the game. Very happy Ole Miss won I might add.

Turn this around and you'll have it right. But if you watched Ole Miss all year long, except for the MSU game, our D was the reason we won 9 games...

Kicked their arse yes. Win no. I was really glad that Ole Miss won. It was just one of those things when you look at the bowl games you have to make a decision. Hoddy Toddy

If the SEC is not the best conference then who is. I keep seeing people say that the SEC is not the best however I have yet to see them say who is.

I think the sec is the best conference but is still down for what it has been in the past, but only because of the qb play. I would have said the big 12 is the best but so far we have beaten all of them. TN looked terrible and Clemson barely beat a KY that was what 6-10 in the conference. Penn ST was better than LSU which surprised the hell out of me. I think part of the perception is that if you are an LSU fan and used to being at the top of the west that perhaps your perception is skewed. Plus GA is terrible this yr which is very unusual. Outside of LSU and GA though everyone else is about where they were last yr. Auburn was a couple of games better this yr.

outside of Bama and Florida the SEC is average at best, this was known by mid way through the season.

So who is the best then? The Pac 10? Hardly. The Big 12? Give me a break. The Big 10 plus 1? Don't think so. The ACC? That's laughable. Just because the SEC didn't win all their bowl games this year doesn't mean that aren't the best conference.

Bowl record is overstated as a measure of conference strength. It's only a few games compared to dozens of OOC games during the regular season

This. The Sagarin ratings based on the entire season to date still shows the SEC #1: LINK

there were some bad match-ups (for us), kentucky and tennessee in particular. they played top teams from the acc and they were mid to lower sec teams. that gave us 2 virtually automatic losses. we're 5-4 with those loses. lsu was disappointing as hell but we could have won and might if we played them again. usc and lsu are definately the big disappointments. if bama wins, we end up 6-4. not bad for the match ups we had.

On a good field, LSU beats Penn State soundly IMO

UGA greatly underachieved last year ending their season with a loss to GT. They wereaverage this year.

Auburn was average this year and last.

Arkansas had a bad season last year and an average season this year.

UT sucked last year and was average this year.

LSU was average last year and finished this season losing 3 of their last 4.

UF has looked great the last two seasons.

Alabama embarrassed themselves against Utah to end the season. They have a great season this year with a possible NC.

I would say UF and Bama have been the only true NC contending teams the last two seasons when in the past the other teams have all seemed in the discusion or getting hype.

We're talking bowl games. LSU really helped the perception of SEC strength last year. This year...not so much.

But wasn't the SEC favored in 7 of the 10 games? The only good thing so far is the SEC is 1-0 in BCS Bowls.
