Sherman's March is behind us, but it wasn't six weeks ago. The SECRANT southern food tourney has moved on a little bit from that.
ETA: poke salad can also kill you dead if you don't prepare it properly - some Godforsaken way of presoak - whoever had nominated it, I can't remember

Ummmm, white beans/butter beans?
so first off, white beans and butter beans are two completely different things, so it's apparent that you should not be lecturing anyone
but the butter beans nomination? Yes, you scored that one. Good job.
watermelon goes back to Africa and is also in Australia - God's creation I believe does mandate that we American southerners don't claim credit for absolutely everything that grows in the ground on half the planet

My ranking
1. Any and all Cajun/Creole
2. Texas BBQ, all styles (direct and indirect heat) and wood types used for smoke.
3. TexMex, the good stuff...no chains or restaurants along the San Antonio River walk.
4. Chicken fried steak with cream gravy made
with drippings.
5. All the southern redneck/hillbilly stuff mentioned in the OP.
