Brand recognition for a program that has sustained success for so long. Even when you think they are out they reappear. LSU I think the first time they ever beat a #1 ranked team was in 97 or 98. But Saban not only turned the program around but made it a national name.
LSU with the arrival of Saban has become a top spot in my opinion. They have demonstrated they have the resources and the state has talent to recruit. I believe that LSU and OSU are the only programs this century to win multiple NCs with 3 different coaches. To me that tells any coach LSU has what it takes to win.

Although in 1992 LSU was ranked #11 nationally in overall win %, and yet today they are ranked #13.

In the 90s how many NCs did LSU win or even compete for? How many other programs in the country have had the success they have had. This century they seem to have sustain success over the last several decades.

Auburn won one in 83, 93, 2004, 2010

More wins, more history, nicer state

From 1989 to 1994 LSU had 6 consecutive losing seasons. This was the first time in their history that they had more than two consecutive losing seasons. This is the kind of time that fans of other teams might refer to as, "our worst period in our entire football history". Yet, for some reason, many fans of other teams like to characterize this period in LSU's history as typical for LSU. It was not.
Take the period of 1997 to 2007 for Alabama, for example. At no time during those years did Alabama compete for the national title, yet no one would characterize those years as typical for Alabama.
So, no, LSU didn't compete for the national title in the 90s, that happened to be the worst period in the LSU football program's history.

Yes, this is their best period. In 1995 Gerry Dinardo took his LSU team and beat the pants off of Nick Saban's MSU team, 45-26. I believe that opened up Saban's eyes to the potential of LSU. By the time Saban got to LSU, Dinardo had started to "bring back the magic", as he upgraded the facilities and gotten a 12,000 seat expansion to Tiger Stadium, just in time for Saban's arrival. Saban generally gets all the credit, but credit needs to go to Gerry Dinardo and Mark Emmert as well.
Fun fact 1: In the 1996 Iron Bowl, Alabama needed a Freddie Kitchens' touchdown pass to Dennis Riddle with under a minute left to win the game and earn a spot in the SECCG. If they had not scored that TD, LSU would have gone to the SECCG.
Fun fact 2: In the 1997 Iron Bowl, Alabama missed a late FG to allow Auburn to seal the win and earn a spot in the SECCG. If Alabama had made that FG, and held on to win, LSU would have gone to the SECCG.
fricking Iron Bowl.

You can easily explain why I’m wrong. I promise, it is allowed on message boards.

No need to get into a back and forth over an opinion based argument.
One thing that is not debatable though is the love affair going on between the OM and Bammer fanbase

There are some valid arguments here but one thing I’d point to is administration. I don’t mean this as lsu has corrupt admin and bama doesnt and that’s why lsu can’t win. I think most competitive programs have the similar levels of what they’ll tolerate. I mean bama seems to be much more in unison of how they run things, everyone pulling in the same direction. LSU from a pr standpoint has been a nightmare at times. And seem to fight themselves a lot.
