re: No flame: How did Jimbo’s FSU go from dominant to getting run out of the ACC?

Yes, Trickett was not a good fit as an O-Line Coach in Jimbo’s offense. He was great in a Rich Rod or Urban style offense. That is a general consensus among FSU faithfull. And there exposed another Jimbo flaw, his refusal to fire Charles Kelly as DC, Trickett, and there was one more. His name escapes me.

Why did he keep him the whole time?

Jimbo is STUBBORN belief. Trickett had a couple of years till retirement. Jimbo the last couple of years was NOT making good decisions due to the whore and sick child.

It's not odd when you create entire threads about Fisher, but it's odd that Aggies reply about Coach O?
Yes.
It's odd that someone asks why Florida State went to shite under Jimbo and Aggies are here crying about "muh coach O."
Imagine Ohio State "just" going 9-4, 10-3 awhile, and then collapsing if/when Michigan elevates their game.
Bringing up Orgeron doesn't apply to the question; but since he's been brought up, what does it say that a guy who stunk at Ole Miss, who couldn't find a job awhile, was able to win a natty at LSU? Would O win a title at Florida State? Would he win one at A&M? Give your honest answer, since you bring him up.

Trickett had been OL coach since 2007 though.
And Charles Kelly was a scapegoat. Their defense was the only reason they made the CFP in 2014.

You are correct on all things. Poor is a relative term. Considering the age of the University and the male alumni population, we are in better shape than most. The last Athletic Director was terrible, Diversity Hire, who in turn made the diversity hire with Taggert. The decision to join the ACC did not reap the financial rewards from Basketball as everyone one had planned. Add in the fact of the idiot Swofford running the ACC and having “Carolina on his mind” just added fuel to a fire.
There were and are issues. Jimbo wanted to tear down Dick Howser Stadium and build a football only facility. I am sure as a Gator you are familiar enough with FSU Baseball to know that was never going to happen. FSU was never going to tear down a stadium named after an Alum who was Coach at FSU, managed the Yankees and managed the World Series Champion KC Royals.
Real football at FSU started in 1947. We have done pretty dadgumm good considering all things. FSU needs more male alums donating and the ACC to get their shite together, or FSU becomes a member of the SEC where we should have been all along.
I was just talking shite with the poor remark.

Honestly I thought Taggart was a very good hire at the time. Local, grew up an FSU fan, great recruiter, offensive guy, a track record of turning programs around...it really does baffle me that he tanked so bad.
Joining the SEC is biting FSU in the arse now but it certainly did wonders on the academic side. They're a top 20 public university now.
And you're right, FSU has done pretty good all things considered. I hate you bastards but I gotta respect.

Dabo and Jimbo were pretty well established in the ACC for a few years and FSU was the only king in that conference. How was clemson able to sling shot past fsu so quickly and turn it into the program it is now?
Dabo is in the weak conference and Fisher is in the toughest conference! Fisher might have planned on leaving FSU but wasn't doing so right away. That is when he just stops trying to recruit for FSU. If LSU was in contact with him and then with Texas A&M, then that made him quit recruiting and trying to win games.

Aggys won’t like this one…you aren’t supposed to mention that the 75 million man was about to get fired at FSU and left the program in the dumpster.

Yes. He did not have "a track record of turning programs around."
Taggart had the second worst winning percentage among WKU coaches who coached at least 3 seasons (the number of seasons Taggart coached), a sub .500 record at South Florida and he spent 1 season at Oregon...winning 7 games.
He has now been a head coach 11 seasons and is 5 games below .500. He's basically less successful Kevin Sumlin.

Clemson wasn't actually the dynasty they are, back when FSU was still good. Back in 2012-2013 the term Clemsoning was all the rage. Clemsoning came from bowls/games where they were heavy favorites, yet found ways to lose. Then Deshaun Watson commits to Clemson and the rest is history.

You really should be asking your current AD why he targeted Jimbo and paid him that much money to leave FSU while they were getting run out of the ACC.

You have to be a pretty shitty coach to frick up FSU. He realized he had killed the program so he pulled up his skirt and left.
Now he is doing the same thing to A&M and those jabronies are paying him millions to do it.
I hope Jimbo continues to "ruin" the Aggie program! Cutty sark is not fit to carry his jock, even when sober.

Wait, I thought we didn't have a program to ruin??? Does our program already suck or is Jimbo tanking it?? Pick a lane, dude.
