However, I've always wondered what would happen if you could pair a powerhouse defense like yours with a high powered offense like ours though. I wonder why that hasn't happened yet.

That's happened about eleventy seven times in the past decade and not just with 'Bama.

The defense wins almost every time.

I think the easiest answer is that if you have a truly dominant defense, there's simply more chance of being upset by running a higher risk/higher reward offense.

Bama, and a lot of recent defensively dominant teams, would have better offensive stats if they felt like they, say, needed to throw a riskier pass of 3rd and 8 than simply call a safe play and punt.

Some recent Florida, USC and Miami teams had NFL talent stacked all over both sides of the ball.

You mean like Texas Tech against West Virginia this past weekend?

We could put up 500 yards and we would still likely lose by 30 just like everyone else. Alabama is just that fricking good.
I disagree with this. If a team puts up 500 yards of offense, they are scoring points.

I think he meant on the same team. See 2001 Miami or 2004 USC

The guy is wondering why there is never a team with a powerhouse offense and shutdown defense. Not what would happen if they played each other. Do yall even read posts before posting your idiotic responses?
