Its not a poll. Its a committee, and it doesnt function the same way polls do. Sure a team losing the CCG may drop below a team that wins, but teams that dont play wont be jumping a team that loses like they do in the stupid AP and Coaches polls

It is totally a poll. They will rank the teams and the top 11 P4 plus the highest ranked G5 team will make the playoffs. There are just less voting members than the AP or coaches poll.

NCAA.com - How The New 12 Team Playoff Works

If I am wrong, someone correct me. I think this new system that was supposed to make people happier will actually piss even more people off. But it will make “them” more money. And that is really what it is all about.

Not true. Last season, Georgia losing the SEC championship game kept them from making the playoffs. Alabama jumped them and took their spot. Had there been no SEC championship game, Georgia AND Florida State would have made the playoffs. Last season, the SEC championship cost two teams a playoff spot. And one of them wasn’t even an SEC team.

What I said is absolutely true. Georgia was #6. No team who didn’t play in a Conference Championship jumped them. They “didnt get in” only because there were only four spots until now but they would’ve got in a 12 team playoff easily. Florida State, Texas, Michigan, Washington all gained on them. The year before that, Alabama lost to Georgia but did not fall below Tennessee, for example, and the committee put Alabama ahead of Tennessee in bowl pecking order. Theres no reason to think the committee is going to start moving conference runners up below teams they finished ahead of.

Both participants in the SEC championship game will be in the playoff and you can write that down in blood.

Its a ranking made by a committee, not a poll. They talk about it and all agree on ranking. In a poll people vote and every morons opinion gets averaged out

If they lose the championship game, they will have three losses and miss the playoffs.

This will not happen. An SEC champ participant will not be punished for losing to the probable #1 team in the country in an extra game no one else played in.

I doubt a SEC championship game participant gets penalized at all for losing a third game in Atlanta. The only teams that would have been left out of the top 12 in the past were those East Division teams at the first few years of the format when all of the top teams were in the west and they wouldnt even make the CCG in the current system without divisions

Not if the game becomes a blowout loss for said loser of that game with 3 losses.

As a Vols fan and if we are being honest here I just don’t see us making it this year.

Our O line is just not good
Our Defense is pretty good

If we somehow manage to win next week which I have my doubts

We still have Ga Vandy St Kentucky after we play Bama

Our O line needs to change my mind but I’m not seeing it this year

I am not trying to be a nega Vol here either but see exactly what everyone else has seen.

The SEC Championship game has nothing to do with the SEC anymore.

Its entire existence is about high quality inventory for the controlling network. Network pays big money, network needs to be fed.

SEC championship game will never go away.
