Nick Saban's success has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on the university as a whole. Dr. Witt called it the best investment the school has ever made and it's tough to disagree with him.

Fair enough. but I thought that has as much to do with Alabama's push to get OOS undergraduates and their OOS tuition.

I've never hated Saban and don't quite 'get' the hate. Sure, he's been a thorn in our side but at the same time the Bama-UT rivalry has always been streaky and given we tried to commit seppuku with the Kiffin and Dooley hires we have no one to blame but former AD Mike Hamilton who is thankfully gone baby gone. That said, AD Dave Hart is a heavy handed dictator who probably made the right hire in Jones despite himself.

I'd venture a guess that a huge number of those OOS students are coming here because of Saban. Our recent freshman class had 60% OOS.

Wow, that seems crazy! Sort of sucks though if they all leave back out of state after college. Doesn't really build up the state much.

Does not need LSU prep. He is leaving. So why worry?

But it does make our alumni base much more spread out. A lot of OOS can be a blessing and a curse. I choose to view it as a blessing. In the future large economical cities across the nation will be littered with Bama grads. I like that.

Kinda like New Orleans is now! Heck two-three years ago when the paper listed the Debs for Mardi Gras, there were more students at Alabama than at LSU.

America loves assholes. If they didn't, hollywood and the celebrity wannabees wouldn't be on the cover of every gossip magazine and have reality TV shows.
