McElroy is perfect as an NFL backup if you don't plan on needing him to be a season long starter one day. The job of an NFL backup is if the starter goes down, you send a guy in and tell him to not lose the game. McElroy's experience and intelligence make him the perfect game managing, disaster cleanup, backup QB.

I will quit watching the NFL for good if McElroy gets significant playing time for the Ravens. I'm not joking about that either.
Too bad you didn't quit watching Alabama.

He is a very serviceable backup that is someone that could fill in for a team waiting or trying to develop a starting QB, note the second half of my statement is assuming he is in the league for any amount of time. I do not think he is a starting quality or franchise quality QB in the NFL but that's not to say he will be a bad one.

Bench,I see McCarron as another Croyle.Great arm, thinks he's Superman, but will disappoint when it comes to crunch time.McElroy may not be the prototype QB,but he does seem to make the plays when he needs to and got the job done more often than not.Hate him if you want but I for one wish he had another year with the Tide.

this.
He is a 5th rd. pick imho and a career #2 who can play if necessary.

I would take him over Cam as a QB.
