Hard to get an education when the coach is paying you to play and arranging to have your grades took care of so you only practice.

Want me to name a certain orthopedic surgeon in Bham that played under Dye and disagrees?

If you are given the chance to get an education and choose not to, it is on you and no one else.

Maybe if Dye and company had helped him get, you know, an actual education, instead of paying him to play, he wouldn't have been in such a bad state.
Well, actually, he did get an education at AU. Hell, it's even mentioned in the article.

In fact, one of the 'racist' things AU did was try to give him a tutor. He was insulted that they thought he was just another ignorant black football player who needed academic help.

I don't doubt that Ramsey got improper benefits at AU. I do find it rather interesting that he is the only player who has ever come forward from the 'dozens' he 'knew' were getting paid (not to mention all those names in Bowden's 'little black book').

You'd think eventually someone else would come clean.

No, but you seem to bring up and carry on about race quite often. You can take it up with some one else. Not me.

Wants to produce a movie about his time at AU. That'll be a movie that all Auburn fans will rush to see.
quote:

Ramsey currently works as an actor and a screenwriter and runs his own security company. He has produced two short films and is hoping to produce a film titled “The Promise,” about his childhood and time at Auburn.

bury your head in the sand. Auburn cares about getting what they can out of a player and casts them off when they can't produce. Ramsey was one example and your hatred over it shows what the Auburn family is all about.

Who gives a Frick about Ramsey other than Auburn folks? No one. So the point of this thread is to ask WHY the NY Times is running this story now... About a washed up ex-football player who got paid almost 20 years ago.

Things that make you go hmmmmm...

Holy shite. You are an idiot. I will own your arse again concerning oversigning later. I am going to bed shortly. For now, I will just say Saban's sign and cut and ask how many will be signed and how many cut this year and leave it at that.

Damn you are dumb.

Back to the discussion (and lets just all ignore the Alahunter idiot and his tangents).

Quotes from SI article at the time. And yes it does piss me off when Ramsey continues to lie and try and act noble when this was a money grab, nothing more, nothing less:

quote:

As for Ramsey, unemployed, three credits shy of graduating after failing a course last spring, cut by the NFL, he is a confused, angry and perhaps misguided young man. According to the transcript in the News, Ramsey repeatedly asked Frost for money, yet he now claims to be the one who has been wronged in this affair. Ramsey made the tapes clandestinely and without telling any official at Auburn or the NCAA about the favors he says he received.

quote:

Ramsey, though, was an eager participant in the very misdeeds that he says made him a victim. Money and revenge appear to be at the root of his complaints.

Presenting herself as her husband's agent—and identifying herself as Dawn Webb—Twilitta tried to sell the tapes to SI last August. Eric's attorney, Donald Watkins, is cleverly milking the situation, issuing the tapes slowly for publication. "To get a full flavor... requires a time-release plan for making the tapes public," he told The Birmingham News, which did not pay to publish the transcript

Ramsey has said that he wouldn't have gone public with the tapes had he not been cut by the Chiefs, as if Auburn was responsible for the failure of his pro career. And Twilitta says, "It didn't have to come to this.... All [Auburn officials] had to do was come to us and at least pretend they were sorry."

For what? Apparently, for everything that has gone wrong in Ramsey's life of late. One thing is certain when you deal with snakes: Sooner or later you must crawl on your belly. Indeed, what is next for college football? Players sent to rival schools with hidden wires? Blackmail?

I won't lie; his statement was pretty stupid and naive. Hard to believe any reasonable person would believe that's exclusive to only one program.
