Yea, I'm not dumping Bama fans into the same category as these 9/11 truther's I've been debating with on the Poli Board.
Their motto is "if it can't be proven with 3,400 pieces of evidence, video, and independent documents then is isn't true."
We could have a notarized letter from the Head of Recruiting Services at Auburn stating the reason for this billboard is standard HS student recruitment and you still wouldn't believe it.

Frankly, I don't understand why you have your panties in a twist about a billboard, however, I did find a bama one....
Awwwww shite......

Golfer, the thing is that you have no evidence whatsoever to even suggest that this was done for academic purposes... other than what you claim marketing strategists know. There isn't even a hint of evidence that this was done for any other reason besides football recruiting.

Because marketers use different methods to attract certain types of people (this one being those students who are interested in SEC football).
Bing-fricking-O. The number of students on campus at any (excluding Vandy) SEC school who are there strictly for academics is most likely very low. I would wager that upwards of 80-90% of the students at any SEC school choose that school because of something other than academics. More over, the over whelming factor was probably that schools sports programs/party atmosphere. That being the case, if Johnny 3.0 GPA wants to go to business school and he's watched Auburn/Bama sports a little bit growing up and the two business schools are about even (I'm assuming to make a point) then it's logical that sports might be the deciding factor.

Alabama has 325+ enrolled National Merit scholars, we enrolled 83 this year.
I didn't pull the numbers out of my arse. UA did several commercials about it. One was featured on the Jumbotron prior to football games.

You again have no evidence that this is what Auburn is doing.
You have no evidence that this is only being used as a recruiting tool.
frick; every SEC school does this. You could apply the same speculation to those billboards as you are to this one and obtain the same results. This is a pointless argument.

Damn Ross, I will be glad when football season starts so we can talk about actual football.

No, I don't. However, the only evidence that I do have points to it being used as a recruiting tool. There is no other evidence to show it is being used for anything else.

One could argue that because Auburn football plays such an integral role in student life at Auburn; that this billboard was aimed towards sponsoring attendance at Auburn for football fans.

This says nothing for Bama academics. In fact, I would argue that it supports Bama being weak academically.
Bama has a lot of athletes in a lot of programs that produce some all americans in their sport. It could be said this speaks to the weakness of Bama academics and the steering of athletes towards crip courses that produce these results. Bammers of course are not bright enough to figure out this out, so they brag about it.
