It's one data point. All you had to do was beat FSU so I am not sure why you are crying, but I do think it is pretty funny.

How would you weigh the data point of wins and the data point of losses? Equally? Wins vs ranked teams weigh more? Losses vs unranked teams weigh more? How much more? And when the weights are added up?

defeats the purpose

Are you sure what their purpose is? Honestly? It seems their purpose is to include teams in the playoff that have weaker resumes, but in the name of "fairness," gives them an automatic bid. This committee does not want the best 12 teams... period

Doesn't matter how I'd weigh it. You left it up to the committee by losing to a terrible FSU team and they have weighed it there way and found the Bammers lacking

Bama was manhandled by a 5-win Florida State team and needed a miracle to beat an awful South Carolina team. The eye test points to Notre Dame beating Bama by at least two scores.

Bama has a loss to FSU

Notre Dame has a loss to the number three team in the country

I think this should help settle your mind

It won’t be Miami at the end of the day. They’re just a placeholder for now. Most likely winner of the ACC is either Georgia Tech or UVA.

I think Alabama should be ranked higher than ND...so let me get that out of the way to start.

That said...the committee does not set the guidelines concerning who gets a bye, etc, and they certainly should NOT put teams in based upon history, reputation or eye test.

But if Alabama does not make it into the playoffs this year, they only have themselves to blame for it, not the committee.

Again...Alabama should be ahead of ND in the rankings. If Alabama wins the rest of the way they will be in the playoffs.

This has to weigh heavily on their minds...on the other hand, ND has not beaten a currently ranked team, either, and that should weigh heavily on their minds, too. Alabama has beaten 4 currently ranked teams, and that is impressive.

ETA
My bad, USC was beaten by ND and they are ranked #15.
My point about Alabama beating the #4, #14, #20, and #22 still stands, though.
