32 US coronavirus deaths this year. Mass hysteria. Dead from flu is just as dead as from the coronavirus.
I agree the reaction is concerning, but it isn't completely unwarranted. These numbers may have changed some from yesterday but it will illustrate the point.
1000 Flu cases (1 Flu patient generally exposes 1.5 people)
So that's 2500 people exposed. Those new 1500 expose 2250. Those new 2250 expose 3375. That is 8125 people exposed.
1000 Corono cases (1 Corono patient generally exposes 2.7 people)
So that's 3700 people exposed. Those 2700 expose 7290. Those 7290 expose 19683. That is 31673 people exposed.
That's why it scares the infectious disease people so much. Most believe this virus kills at a slightly higher rate than Flu so run the numbers on deaths per exposure and you'll see the reason its a Pandemic.

That the flu infects 3 million Americans a year and if that same number got it at a 2% mortality rate that'a 60,000. It's much more deadly.
There we go.
This is a real life pandemic folks. What we want to do is treat it as serious as a heart attack now so that 4 years from now we all look back and laugh about how we over reacted.
We don't want to look back 4 years from now and think about the loved ones we lost because we farted around.
Yeah. It sucks. But there you have it. We are, for once, being safe rather than being sorry. Kill this thing now rather than let it linger around and start picking people off.

This virus dick measuring contest is getting laughable. Why do you think the CDC didn't recommend the steps they are taking with coronavirus?

If. Is it at 2%?

China? A place with a population of over 1 billion that had what 70,000 cases and way less deaths?
Do you really believe their numbers? Really?

That’s the number I’m getting from American outlets. But if we go down the whole “ you really believe their number “ thing then we can pull shite right out of our asses; like it’s gonna kill over 500,000 Americans

Countries have shown this is far from hype. Healthcare systems are collapsing.

There is no age group that has a mortality rate of more than 0.83% for the common flu
Coronavirus Mortality Rates
50-59 : 1.3%
60-69 : 3.6%
70-79 : 8.0%
80+ : 14.8%
The mortality rate for those under 65 for the common flu is 0.01% to 0.06% (100-600 deaths per 1,000,000 cases)
The mortality rate for those under 65 from the coronavirus is 0.2% to 1.3%. (2,000-103,000 deaths per 1,000,000 cases)
It is more deadly for young people and it is EXPONENTIALLY more deadly for older people and those with diseases. If you have a parent or grandparent over 65+ and/or a loved one with a disease like diabetes, cancer, etc (and ESPECIALLY if they have it AND are old) it is absolutely reasonable to be concerned about this.

Because of mass hysteria playing a role in it and everything getting sensationalizes. I mean shite, listen long to die just in this thread you’d think people are dropping dead every few seconds: take precautions but don’t lose your mind.

Yeah Italy’s healthcare system is collapsing because of hysteria...
Definitely not the large amount of infected

fricking this.
I want people to laugh at me for overreacting.
I want this to be a joke in a year.
New, unknown viruses aren't something to take lightly - ever, and it looks like this country is finally about to sack up and do what needs to be done.

If that number were 10x higher, there probably would be.
