That wasn't a very good year. We should have lost in the first round that year as an 8 seed.
That wasn't a good year because we SHOULD HAVE lost? What a strange assessment.
By the way, I'm well aware of that first round game - I lost my arse betting on Bama to cover 1.5 points, so I layed off the second round when we upset Stanford. One more reason I'm a failure as a gambler, especially on Bama games.

Mob? He had 2.5 terrible years, ran off half the roster and broke the other half physically. He quit recruiting and subsequently quit winning. He was fired because our program was crumbling.
He's having solid success at NC State and I'm happy for him. He's a good recruiter and he gives his guys creative license to make plays. But, anyone who followed SEC basketball in the late 2000s knows that he was fired for good reason.
Why are you planting your flag on this hill? It's just dumb.

I don't think you realize there's more to a season than the end of the year tournament.
Even if you just use the tournament, in the ten years he had outside of the elite eight season, he had a grand total of 2 tournament wins.

How does that compare to the Coach before and after him ?

You mean 2 other guys we fired?
For the 127th time, if CMG had continued to succeed at the rate of the time period you have been posting he would still be here. He didn't. That's it. That's why he was rightly fired. Anybody who paid attention to SEC basketball would agree. Same reason John Brady and Rick Stansbury were fired.

So we should have kept Gottfried because the guy before him and after him sucked? That makes zero sense. 2 wins in 10 seasons is abysmal.

John Brady went to a Final Four. A FINAL FOUR! He should have been named LSU coach for life.

NC State is a better basketball program than Alabama in a better conference than Alabama. Gottfried is doing well there, but it's fairly comparable to what he did at Alabama. Lot's of bubble teams, lots of awesome wins, followed by inexcusable losses. Gottfried was fired because he got comfortable and quit trying at Bama, then started screwing students.

So what you are saying is, Alabama is not a North Carolina St. I can accept that, but can Bama fans ?

What does that even mean?
And yea, NC State has won 2 national championships, been to 3 Final Fours and is historically the 3rd best program in the ACC. Theyr a better basketball program than we are historically.

Gottfried, Brady and Stansberry were like brothers. They all took programs to really great heights but they could never stack the performances up and build on them.

And they all hated eachother. I miss those days.

You're out of your element. We're talking about basketball.

The State-Bama games during the height of the Stansfield-Gottfried era were fantastic.
