It's science

Again, works out to Pearl +70 and Oats +49
Pearl average (6 yrs) : +11.7
Oats average (5 yrs) : +9.8
All things considered pretty similar - Both had an unexpected run to a Final Four, 2 years that ended early, and 1-2 chalk years.
Both out of this world better than any coach at either school before it. Can't even imagine how ugly Gottfried's would be using this formula. Wimp probably right at about net 0.

You forgot to subtract 16 for each season they failed to make the tournament.
Oats: 49 - (1x16) = 33
Pearl: 70 - (5x16) = -10
You can’t argue with math.

So Pearl rates higher. Auburn also has an opportunity to rack up either 16 or 32 more points in this exercise with the downward possibility of losing most -1 at the most.

Yea I mean I've never argued otherwise. Pearl has had a few clunkers but most coaches have. Certain rosters are susceptible to tournament issues - Pearl had them last year and the Jabari/Kessler year because of guard play. Oats had one in 2022 because they couldn't guard a church league team.
