It's definitely Fran in the modern era. He may have a similar or better record than guys like Tom Wilson, Hank Foldberg or Jim Meyers but he negatively transformed the culture of our program.
A&M football beforehand was kind of hard edged and played with an underdog's chip on its shoulder.
Little Debbie Man taught us how to quit.

Evidenced by the manner of departure he had at UA. Odd how a coaches character impresses on a team.

Are you serious ?
Absolutely. He is despised in Gainesville, and he went to UF. He left Pell crap, hence 0-10-1 in 1979. Then he went back to UT and became a Gator hater. 0-4 in bowl games. Lost to Texas A&M. Need I say more??

I'd say that coach O left our team MUCH better than Nutts did.
My vote is for Steve Sloan.

well, its your team, I was just curious. He was a QB in college there and helped take them to the Gator Bowl.
His teams from '74 to '77 spent time in the top 10 and the '75 and '76 teams, especially 1975 came "oh so close" to that first elusive SEC title.
Just odd to see him referred to as "most pathetic coach ever".

Curley Hallman- He was so good that we passed on Spurrier when we hired him. I want to forget these times. Thanks for bringing back terrible memories.

No, that was Archer, in 1987. We also passed on Gene Stallings in that coaching search. But all's well that ends well...we got Mike Archer. Well done, faculty committee!

After the 1986 season, Southern Cal, Texas and Alabama all passed on Steve Spurrier along with LSU.
Decent teams with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USFL weren't an automatic foundation for being a great coach as he's turned out to be. The LSU passing on Spurrier stuff in '86 is just silly.

Hallman left DiNardo a shite QB (Jamie Howard)
Archer left Sol Graves, Jesse Daigle and Chad Loup (who actually wasn't bad).

a 2nd rate RB (Robert Toomer
And Kendall Cleveland and David Butler and basically had Kevin Faulk already all-but-committed to LSU. Vincent Fuller was the best RB Archer left him. Vincent Fuller, not Eddie. Vincent.

leading rushers in Dinardo's first 3 years were players he signed (Faulk, Cleveland, Mealy, Collins).
Cleveland was a year ahead of Faulk, a Hallman signee. And again, Hallman already had Faulk all-but-committed before he even got fired.

He also got significant playing time from FR Todd McClure and Alan Faneca. Anthony McFarland was Freshman Co-Defensive POY. I'll take Dinardo's 1st signing class over the best 25 players that Hallman left him.
DiNardo had a great signing class in '95, partly due to Hallman's work up to the point when he left. And we're not comparing Hallman to DiNardo. Archer was complete shite in recruiting and left nothing whatsoever to build on.

Hallman was on the hot seat in '93 after starting out 2-5 including the worst defeat in LSU history (losing to UF 58-3). He saved his job winning 3 of the last 4, including a huge win in Tuscaloosa. He was a lame duck in '94 after the Auburn debacle - the first loss in a stretch where they losst 6 out of 7. Joe Dean fired him after LSU lost to Southern Miss in tiger Stadium. Fact of the matter is, that Kevin Faulk committed AFTER the coaching change. Hallman is also the same moron that let Warrick Dunn get away and wanted to make Marshall Faulk a DB.

I doubt he's the worst but I fricking hated Gerry Dinardo, my parents had that dumbass picture of all the old coaches and a bunch of players with Dinardo in the center, I made them take it down
