As for OP question, has to be some combination of MSU, Texas, LSU, Arkansas. All these are regular at CWS.
And last CWS title is irrelevant. LSU hasn’t won a thing until mid 90s, had a nice 2 decades with a legendary coach, and then went 14 years before winning again in 2023. Didn’t mean they were any less “baseball crazy” during that 14 years, to the contrary I expect it just made them want to win even more. Hogs haven’t won one yet but are still baseball crazy, IMO.

This is absolutely the correct answer- especially in the last 30 years.
Ole Miss, Florida, and UT (the real one) are honorable mentions, even though nobody can stand Vitello.
But you also have to look at programs like South Carolina and Vandy, who have had INCREDIBLE teams and won championships in recent years. Joey Pancake still haunts my dreams lol!!! USC (the real one) are one of the only baseball teams to EVER repeat… they were amazingly good!
There is a reason why the SEC is the best college baseball conference in America… almost everybody is stacked with dudes, fans are rabid, and facilities are top-knotch for the most part.

Wrong. Maybe you haven't been here long enough. We're one of the least fair weather fan bases anywhere. We have sellouts and near sellouts for losing teams. When we're winning, demand goes over the top. Just watch the bandwagons empty for other teams when losing - but not here..

No one gave a damn about CBB until Vitello. Tennessee’s lower levels of baseball fandom were concentrated on the Smokies in all their variations. It was very difficult for UT to compete with them or the experience until Vitello and alcohol sales came along.
Vitello arrived on campus and ingratiated himself on campus and in the community. He was and still is at every event and fans responded to his passion. We wanted him to succeed. Once they started having success it was easy for the fanbase to go into hyper drive. And with Knoxville’s minor league team in Kodak at that time, it gave UT an opportunity to take back the local fanbase.
