He was charged with simple assault on a police officer. A felony carrying up to 5 years. You frick with a cop and without even trying hard you can get yourself in a world of hurt.

Reading the law it seems to give officers a lot of latitude to charge someone. Part three of the law on simple assault:
So all someone has to do is act menacingly towards an officer, and he can claim he felt he was in fear of serious bodily harm. I would guess that would be hard to argue against since there is video of him wrestling with the first cop.
