I feel the only clear-cut advantages Georgia has over Arkansas currently are better recruiting grounds and a bigger stadium. IMO Arkansas has nicer facilities (and will continue to get nicer as our gigantic campus-wide facility upgrade project announced a couple months ago begins), a better geographic location to live, an entire state supporting the program, and with A&M joining the SEC, it will impact Arkansas and LSU much more than East schools such as Georgia for pulling recruits out of Texas.
You're pretty much wrong about all of this.

I think he may have been referring to a comparison of returning starters next season.
I think everyone in the country knows both Bama and LSU's stables are more than loaded.

Arkansas above Georgia....
I'd probably put Tenn in front of Arkansas too.

Meh, maybe so, but we're not chopped liver.

a better geographic location to live
Fayetteville is in nowheresville. I've been there and it's pretty, but it's almost removed from society. Athens is consistently voted as a top 3 college town in America and is a fine place to live and raise a family.

So do we.
We also have more money and much, MUCH better recruiting grounds like you mentioned. And even though you didn't include it, history and tradition do matter. If they didn't matter then before Saban got to bama nobody would've wanted to play there under Shula.

That's oversimplifying things when Georgia is hotly contested every year by the entire SEC. Just comes with its central location.
I do put Georgia ahead of Auburn though, since they are the "University of" in a more talent-rich state.

Not really.

LSU and Georgia I see as comparable. Auburn and Arkansas are not better jobs than Georgia.
This I can agree with though. But what about Tenn?

What is better about the geographical location???

But what about Tenn?
Tenn has the rich tradition, but I feel the page has turned on them and that they won't be able to compete regularly for the east like they used to. The other teams are just recruiting much better and Tennessee can't get the out of staters like they used to.

How does yours look? UGA has little or no in-state competition in the talent rich recruiting state of Georgia with one of the most profitable football programs in the nation. The only thing missing at UGA is a championship level coach. Richt as been good but not great and it takes great to win national championships.

It's a hell of a lot closer to Texas, which is why A&M joining the SEC mainly bumped Arkansas over Georgia for me.
Texas recruits trump just about any other area in the nation in terms of producing talent.

Funny...I could have sworn that you played another school from Georgia just this last weekend?
Yeah, and you definitely have more money.
I think it's basically a toss up but I gave Arkansas the edge because of the $300 million facilities upgrades along with hopefully opening up to recruiting grounds in Texas since A&M is joining.
IMO

I don't think they do have more money as we're routinely one of the top 3 most profitable ADs in the nation, but if they do it ain't by much. Our state is FAR better at producing talent, and we are the only major school in state as opposed to auburn who is 2nd fiddle. Longevity? What does that even mean? We've shown that we are extremely patient with coaches, a coach would know for sure he's going to have plenty of time to do his thing here. Resources? Again, a coach has better resources here than auburn. History and success is debatable, and it's only debatable because of the last 12 months. We've still won twice as many sec titles as auburn and as of right this second we are trending up while auburn sucks.
We raid GA for talent all the time as well. We are well on our way to a 3rd straight top 5 class, so that arguement is DOA. You do not understand longevity? Ok I will help. AU has not had a coach want to leave AU that I can remember. Maybe in the 1930's? I do not know. What I do know is coaches have averaged over 10 years at AU each for about the last 60-70 years. UGA is probably similar. You are not trending anywhere and you are not more successful than AU. You acting like UGA is a better job than AU just shows your ignorance of the facts.
They are comparable jobs.

What bumped Arkansas over Georgia for you is your blind obsession with Arkansas.
Posted on 11/29/11 at 9:48 am to Swoopin
That would be my response too but just wanted to throw that question out there. But Tennessee could easily turn it around with a great coach. Don't think it's going to be Dooley.

That really hasn't hurt Bama has it? I mean yes in some ways, maybe they would have 30-40 NC's if Auburn was not around.
Come to think of it all the other fan bases owes Auburn a lot or the Bama fans would be completely insufferable on this board....Oh wait

Georgia Tech and UGA do not go after the same recruits. And for the one or two a year they do, UGA gets.

With that kind fo thinking you should have A&M over arkansas on your list.
