This is curious...Mack Brown is only 57. He'll coach there for another 5 to 10 years. This is def. a power move. Maybe he doesn't want the pressure of a TENN or CLEM, and is waiting for something else to come open next year (AUB?)
Guess I'll post this over here as well:

Wow, totally out of the blue. If only some poster could have been informing the masses about this deal for the past few months on here.

Oh wait this guy did:

<--------------------

Anywho, seeing as the first step has already come to pass, I guess I'll just run down the rest of them once again.

Mack steps down after 2009 (the team he has pinpointed for a National Championship for 2 years now). Muschamp takes over as Head Coach. Greg Davis retires as he doesn't want to be the OC without Mack. Applewhite takes over as the OC. Deloss Dodds retires as AD. Mack Brown takes over as AD. University of Texas Football is set for years to come. The End!

If Auburn and Jay Jacobs didn't frick up, Will Muschamp would be the head coach in waiting at Auburn and Tuberville would move into the AD role in 2010.

Roughneck did say this a few months ago. Some of his other statements have proven to be questionable though, so I never know what to believe

The Longhorn nation was taken by surprise on Tuesday when Texas made a formal announcement that Will Muschamp will officially take over for Mack Brown as Texas head coach when Brown someday decides to retire. ...

This will never happen.......

I think it is comical that UT is so worried about losing a d-cood. that they would offer him the job when the current HC retires. Mack, himself, has already said he has no intention on retiring anytime soon. UT fans are setting themselves up bigtime for disappointment.
