Let's not get too emotional over MSU's tourney run... the rest of their season was a disappointment. Va Tech deserved the last bid more than them, anyway.

That said losing two games to number 1 Kentucky in overtime seems absurd that they didn't get in over many other teams - including Florida.

Playing someone close is not justification for being in the tournament. Florida didn't exactly get blown out in any games this year, and actually has OOC wins against Michigan State, Florida State, NC State Rutgers, etc. A schedule ranked 33 compared to 114 for MSU. Not to mention went 9-7 in the MUCH tougher East.

FWIW, Florida won 24 and 25 games each of the past 2 years respectively and was not in the tournament. We improved our schedule and they rewarded us for it. We were due.

I truly thought that Mississippi State was playing their best basketball in the SEC Tourney. When you beat Florida and Vanderbilt and then all be defeat the Kentucky Wildcats, you deserve to get in the big dance. A few free throws here and there and your team is in for sure. I think it comes down to who is deserving to get into the Dance versus who can advance once they are invited to the Dance. I believe Miss. St was playing the best ball of any team in the SEC Tourney and 21 wins should have gotten them an invitation. I certaintly believe MSU would beat Minnesota on a neutral court. Next year, schedule some tourney teams during the regular season OOC, and not leave it to the committee to make or break your season.

Not exactly true. Bama was snubbed around 2000 with 21 wins and an rpi in the high 30s. It was the same year we made it all the way to the NIT championship game and lost to a Buzz Peterson coached Tulsa team the season before UT hired him. Yes, shocking as it may be Bama actually gets shafted on occasion just like MSU. We got screwed royally by the ncaa baseball selection a few years ago when North Carolina who was one of the top 3 teams in America but was shipped to our super regional instead. Thanks NCAA.

The snub is rediculous. It is simply wrong to exclude MSU.

We tried it with a few teams and they had off years.

The powers that be who scheduled us against DePaul instead of a better Big East team in Tampa should lose their job. DePaul hasn't been good in years. We might as well have played a mid-major that night. Meanwhile, Florida played Syracuse that night. We should have at least played a Notre Dame or Marquette that night.
