Did not realize it was for first downs. Seems like I just hear it a million times a season. I watch Bama and then whoever else is good in the SEC, so I probably heard it about a billion times during your Arkansas game after Thanksgiving!
That might explain this...

Guess I'm different. I'm a CFB fan so I am also a CFB band fan. I like comparing the various tradtions, songs, and cheers.
You can still love your alma mater's band, traditions, cheers, etc. while admiring others'.
Other teams' bands playing, cheers etc, even in Tiger Stadium, do not bother me one bit.

I didn't know until I heard it on the NCAA video game that Florida's chant is supposed to say "Come on Gators! Get up and go!"
I always thought it was Come on Gators!" then some sort of ancient Floridian curse. "Gejjiliboo!"
HOWEVER, if I was a fan of another school, I could definitely understand the disdain for Rocky Top. Especially after Kiffin tried to rub it in Florida's face at his presser, then tried to praise it even after Florida won.

If you don't like CFB bands - especially the ones that are loud and play a lot and drive their team on...there is something wrong with you.
The only band that is annoying is Stanford because they don't seem to care at all about the actual football game...they're about promoting themselves and pulling stunts.

OU has to be at the top.
I don't find any SEC bands annoying, but we no longer play Tennessee every year.

Yeah, I know... nobody gives a shite about Left Coast football.
Un-true!
How the hell does an LSU fan end up in Beaver land?
Edit: Never mind. Pot, kettle. shite.

I love CFB bands. It's part of what makes college football great.
But hearing the same song over and over again regardless of down or situation is ridiculous.
Though perhaps if I had grown up a Florida State fan I might be annoyed that LSU's band doesn't play the first down cheer on the other 3 downs and when the other team has the ball too.

Florida should be 1 on this list. Lame, really lame.

That's OK. You were not really subjected to it on 1/9.

Moved up here for the scenic beauty (hiking, skiing, etc.), got hitched, had a kid and never left.
Thankfully I have local LSU alumni to hang out with when I get homesick.

yeah, it's Oklahoma and not even close. This should pretty much explain it.

Nice.
Does a great job of illustrating what is truly annoying. Same fricking song on every down and in every situation.

Hey Beaver,
I was at the OSU/USC Fog Bowl.
And speaking of bands, the only ticket we could get was behind the USC band at near the endzone...while we could only see the action when they sat down, at least we could see the action at ground level unlike everyone else in the stadium. My friend was a Beaver fan and hated it as Tribute to Troy was imprinted on his brain - I loved it.
