It's not the chant that annoys me so much as the fact they play it no matter the down or situation. And it's pretty much the ONLY song they play.

So do you find Oklahoma's "Boomer Sooner" more annoying than Texas's band?
Yes, way worse. And I can't stand the texas band or hearing "I've been working on the railroad" all day long.

Alright. Looks like the Big XII ex-pats universally agree Boomer Sooner is awful.
I'm biased as a former fan of OU (bandwagon as a kid before I grew up and realized how silly that was as I only lived there for a month or two as an infant). Still think it's kind of a catchy tune though.
But I can't ignore the mounting evidence that OU's band is pretty much universally viewed as annoying.

Agreed. In terms of annoyance, Texas is a fly buzzing around your face that you want to swat away. OU is fingernails raked slowly down a chalkboard, the high-pitched squeal of a a microphone that's not balanced properly and the loud chirping of a smoke detector whose batteries need to be replaced. Combined and played on a loop over and over and over again.

If i didn't have any jumper cables and nipple clamps or water for water boarding, I would blast "Boomer Sooner" on repeat to get intel from terrorist suspects and it honestly wouldnt take them more than 2-3 loops to crack and spill everything.

I like the war chant because the braves made it awesome. I kinda like rocky top too, just think that UT needs more situational awareness for when it comes time to play it in addition to decreasing its frequency. I even like USC doing theirs.

Probably fits better with baseball where you have lots more time to kill between plays worth cheering.

Gets old fast if you are in the stadium. Even as I watched the Beavers D shut down the Sanchise and the Quizz Show got rolling, I couldn't wait for the game to be over just so I didn't have to listen to that band play that song one more time. Pretty sure the entire Pac 12 would agree. Yeah, I know... nobody gives a shite about Left Coast football.

It's a first down cheer.
We don't play it on every down or when the other team has the ball.
So if it's annoying, it's because we're kicking your arse and making lots of first downs.
ETA: Curious that a Bama fan would find LSU's first down cheer annoying. Interdasting.

Yea I guess it could get annoying fast watching live but I just think both are catchy. I just hate the hell out of boomer sooner

Did not realize it was for first downs. Seems like I just hear it a million times a season. I watch Bama and then whoever else is good in the SEC, so I probably heard it about a billion times during your Arkansas game after Thanksgiving!
