10 NBA Prospects You Need To Watch in the NCAA Tournament

Moses Moody, Arkansas

2020-21 Stats: 17.4 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 1.8 APG

It’s a pretty safe bet that the SEC Freshman of the Year will land somewhere in the lottery after a scintillating first, and only, season with the Razorbacks. Regardless of where draft projections have him going—anywhere from the top 10 to early teens—he’s not going to last very long. That’s because the 6’6” guard is an elite college scorer. He put up some ridiculous numbers down the stretch of the regular-season, averaging 24.5 PPG in the Razorbacks final four games before going off for 28 in a losing effort against LSU in the SEC Tournament semifinals. The leading scorer for the Razorbacks this season, he helped Arkansas earn its first top 10 ranking since its national championship season in 1995. That’s why he’ll become the first one-and-done player drafted in the school’s history.

Keon Johnson, Tennessee

2020-21 Stats: 11.2 PPG, 3.4 RPG. 2.5 APG

Projected as a lottery selection, it’s widely assumed Johnson will be one-and-done at Tennessee as he’s generally moved up draft boards as the season has progressed. The reason why you could see Johnson sneak into the top 10 of the draft is simple: His athleticism and scoring ability are next-level for the college game. There are holes in his game for sure—like his inconsistent 3-point shot and play-making ability. But with more refinement in the NBA he could easily be an impactful player. As for the NCAA Tournament, let’s hope Johnson and his teammate, the Vols’ leading scorer at 12.5 PPG in Jaden Springer who very well could be another potential lottery selection, can take care of business against Oregon State in the first-round and set up a showdown with Oklahoma State and Cunningham.

Cade Cunningham, Oklahoma St
Jalen Suggs, Gonzaga
Evan Mobley, USC
Scottie Barnes, Florida State
James Bouknight, UConn
Ayo Dosunmu, Illinois
Quentin Grimes, Houston
Davion Mitchell, Baylor

Cunningham is easily the best player in this year's class

It's odd that this is the case with how much talent has come through over the years. Joe Johnson, Patrick Beverly, Portis, hell even Gafford came back for a second year.

Love Moody's game. The dude is smooth as silk. He works through the offense so you barely notice him, then you look up and he has piled up a ton of stats. Gonna miss him next year.

Agreed. If you watch him play he definitely stands out

In the last 10 years, only two No. 1 NBA Draft picks have reached the Final Four: Anthony Davis with Kentucky in 2012 and Karl-Anthony Towns and Kentucky in 2015. Only Davis won the whole thing.

Several other No. 1 picks in recent years who chose to spurn bluebloods like Kentucky and Duke for other programs never even made the dance, including Ben Simmons (LSU), Markelle Fultz (Washington) and Anthony Edwards (Georgia). (The pandemic canceled last year’s tournament but Georgia was not expected to make the field.)

Turns the ball over a shite ton so I wouldn't say easily.

He had 4 against us earlier this year while putting up 21 and 7.

Moody had 17 and 4 with 1 TO, he's arguably the most efficient player but I haven't checked the specifics.

I won't be watching anyone in the tournament because of their NBA prospects.
