The AP has more experience in this matter than any fly by night awarder of a national championship you want to pull out of your hat...

UPI/Coaches was diff tho
I'm sorry guys... it actually is kinda unfair... but 1964 was not split like 2003 was (and 2004 should have been IMO)

I think what you guys fail to recall is your 90's sucked just as bad. And your 80's were abysmal. Let me pose this, would you trade your coaching staff of Saban and subsequently Miles for Houston Nutt? I think you see where I am going... our culture has changed. We're not where we need to be, but we're not afraid to get there anymore.
We were terrible in the early 90s...no doubt. But we had Curley Hallman, who Houston Nutt would have coached circles around. And while we were far from a powerhouse in the 80s, we still were able to snag an SEC title. See it wasn't all bad.

All we need to know about 64 is the rules changed after the season for a reason. Ironically, in 1965 if the 1964 voting rules were still in effect, Arkansas wins '65 as well.
So call 1964 for who you want to. As for me and mine, it's Arkansas'. Period.

Look, it isn't fair... and in some ways I wish it were different because IMO LSU has been similarly jobbed a couple times in their history (esp 1908)
But there are only a couple polls people recognize... people have heard of Dunkel and Sagarin... and those things have some prestige in that sense... but even so that recognition doesn't mean we actually credit Michigan and Notre Dame with co-championships in 1964
There's a difference though. Arkansas was awarded the majority of national titles and the team that does that is usually regarded as the consensus national champ.
LSU was awarded one title in 1908, while Penn State was awarded four.
It doesn't matter though. You don't have to recognize it. It was a long time ago and will have no effect on the upcoming season. I don't feel like debating about this anymore

I'm not surprised you feel that way
but it is unfair to alabama really... they won the popularity contest by the already established rules
back then the bowl games weren't considered... those were the rules and everyone knew those were the rules

polls are not necessarily titles... Alabama won the polls that award the titles
If you finish your season winning an AP or BCS/Coaches/UPI poll... then you have won a national title

This. I've never, and never will, claim Arkansas' 1977 "championship." But I feel no shame in claiming the '64 title, because Arkansas was the most deserving team and has the FWAA and the majority of the titles from that year to prove it.

By pointing out LSU has a stretch of "recent" true success lasting a whopping 7 years? I was asked a specific question and I answered it. You hating the truth isn't my issue. DWI. Further, time machine talk means almost nothing to me. In terms of the LSU series, I wouldn't have said a thing if today were 2007, even when we beat you. What I care about is what is happening NOW. 2010 and moving on to 2011. We have nothing to worry about going forward. Nobody is afraid of LSU.

AND YET we still ALWAYS begin and finish ahead of you in the final polls since 99 season. Past and Future.
So why would we care if your afraid of us or not when we are always better than you, even in seasons that you beat us? True story
