I think saban got a little caught up in his new o and the game plan from the nc game working again that he kept trying to force the pass instead of going with the run.

I would tend to agree.

LSU missed 54 yard FG, followed by quick Bama score.

I had no problem with all the calls except for this one. Maybe a little with the fake field goal attempt but you never know how those can go. We should have punted the ball instead of giving Bama the short field.

Momentum swings last Saturday night in Death Valley
Trying to come up with a list. What did I leave out?

1) Shitty attempt at a hand-off by AJ while in the redzone about to score while up.

2) Cyrus Jones muffed punt. (Was UA up at that point?)

3) Stuffed fake field goal. (Who was up then?)

4) Stuffed 4th down Warecat attempt. (Who was up then?)

5) Failed on-side attempt. (Who was up then?)
TIA.

Ok, nice. Now I'll do our side:

1) Boone dropped pass on sideline the sideline with nothing but green in front of him.
2) On on-side kick, if Hairston runs just a step slower instead of mad dashing to recover it, the ball does not inadvertently hit his hand, and LSU recovers easily anyway.
3) Instead of fake FG, Miles should have had let Alleman make the 40 yard FG to cut it to 7-6.
4) Instead of trying a 54 yarder, Miles should have had Wing try to pin Alabama deep.
5) If Copeland doesn't commit a stupid PF late 40 yards away from where the ball was, LSU has a 1st and 10 at the Alabama THIRTEEN YARD LINE. Instead, we get 0.
6) Instead of trying a YARD-AND-A-HALF wildcat run up the middle by Ware on 4th down that everyone in the stadium knew was coming, why not
a. try to pull Alabama off side
b. try a quick pitch wide to Ford
c. throw to a back coming out of the backfield on Bama's LBers (like what had been successful several times during the game)
d. throw a quick slant to Landry or Beckham, or even a pump fake slant and go.
e. Throw a curl to the TE
f. Kick a FG

7) If Landry doesn't flop down on the ground on a 3rd and 6 first down conversion, he could have gone a lot farther as he had an angle.

8) With a 1st and 10 at the Bama 32 and 2 minutes left in the game, at least TRY to throw for a first down !!! Mett had thrown for 300 yards!
If you make ONE more first down, Bama had 0 timeouts. LSU could have done three kneel-downs and won the game !!!

9. On Bama's last possession - KEEP THE BAMA RECEIVERS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD !!! Don't let them catch sideline passes. Play the same scheme that had allowed Bama 30 yards offense and ZERO passing in the entire second half, instead of a fricking PREVENT defense.

10. On Bama's last KOR, let Landry, Beckham, Shepard, or SOMEBODY return the KO, not Ford, who is a fricking plugger on KO returns.
he didn't even TRY to do to daylight in the alley on the right side, he just runs RIGHT into the middle of the pack on the fricking 20 yard line.

11. If you HAVE to throw short on the last drive with 39 seconds left, throw a hook and lateral or throw an intermidiate route to TE in the seam!

You're listing errors or things that could have been done differently.

I was really just pointing out stuff that took the air out of (or put it back in) Death Valley.

I never sensed a real momentum change in game one way or the other. Chavis basically went into prevent D at end of each half and AJ took full advantage.

The air was out of the balloon when Bama went to 14-3 right at half.

The drive for LSU's first TD put the life back in the beast, and then the rest of the game was just incredible.

Those were really all of the really big momentum swings IMO.

There were others, but they mostly cancelled each other out. Bama punt fumble, 0 points for LSU after the PF and Fake FG.

LSU OK failure, Yeldon fumbles.

personal foul on copeland, LSU was at the 12 or so I think was just so big

...and the accompanying fake FG was just a series I'd just soon forget.

The air was definitely out of my balloon at half but it didn't seem to affect the guys much. I was speaking more from the players pov.

Bottom line is LSU played well enough in all phases of the game to win, and the coach's decisions were the difference.

Part of the difference. Without any gambles the Tigers win handily IMO because the TD at the end of the first half doesn't happen and they probably get a couple of extra FG though Alleman is not the same kicker as let year. However, the defense was out of position all over the place on the last drive. Team's win; team's lose. Alabama probably should have won last year in Tuscaloosa. LSU definitely should have won on Saturday night in Death Valley.
