It's all about perspective. They see what others have but never see the hard work they did to get it. Or the hard work their parents did to provide it. All they know is their parent (singular) isn't going to get off their arse to get it for them so they go out and take it from someone who did earn it

This might actually be the only situation where a black man gets MORE leniency than a white man.

I guarantee you that if a white player was kicked off a team for carrying a weapon with the ID mark taken off, there would be no one crying that it wasn't his fault.

If you want trouble, you will find it. If you don't, you won't. It doesn't get much more simple than that.

Im not defending what Crowell did, nor the kids at Auburn, Arkansas, Bama or any place where bad judgement is the ultimate fail. Im empathizing with Corn Washington. A kid that has probably worked hard to get where he is but suffers the consequences of bad judgement by someone else. Yet in still he empathizes for a former teammate because he understands how tough it truly is. Even when being influenced every person makes their own decision. He was stupid and needs to be punished. Just remember someone was counting on Crowell and it wasn't just the rich white dudes in the luxury boxes

The poverty cycle that these kids find themselves in is almost impossible to break. Athletics and entertainment are the only real way out for most black youth coming from poverty.

I don't know if you realize but education is free until you graduate from high school. The opportunity to break out of the "poverty cycle" is there for everybody to take through education which has a much higher success rate than athletics or entertainment. Some just choose not to take advantage of it and look to blame society.

So you are basically saying that the quality of education is level across the board. You are saying that the funding a majority white school is getting is the exact same as a majority black school is receiving. You are saying that the teachers are the same across the board. you are saying that learning disabilities won't go unnoticed in most cases for black students. you are saying that it is just that easy huh?

so you are saying being born black is a birth defect, huh?

My high school was predominently black with predominantly black teachers who showed much more interest in black students. That didn't stop me. There is no way you can truthfully show that anyone's miserable situation is a result of the white man. No way possible.

You are a white male, all you had to do is show up at a place and say give me a job and you were hired. Don't kid yourself like it is so hard for a white man to make it. You make up over 70% percent of the population and control over 95% of the wealth and influence. Im sure you worked hard for what you have accomplished, but im sure many black men had to work twice as hard to get half of what you got.

Regardless of if the school has Macbooks to provide for their students or hand-me-down PCs the education is still there for students to take. And most of the local funding from schools come from property taxes and no that isn't determined by race but by district. I graduated from a majority black school several years ago and we had enough funding to build a new football stadium and a Mac Lab. Universities are also aware of the disparity in funding and schools like UGA guarantee admission for the valedictorian and salutatorian in Georgia regardless of the "quality" of education which makes it EASIER for students who come from less competitive schools. So yes, it is that easy as long as you put forth the effort.

Tell that to the kid that was paying bills since he was 14. Not buy selling drugs, but by getting odd jobs and working under the table. You all see stories like Michael Oher and Patrick Willis and think that its isolated. Sorry, but it is far more common than you think. Those two were just extraordinarily good football players that were lucky to have some recognize their gifts and put them in better positions to make it. Well what about my friends Greg and J.B.? I guess since they couldn't ball there was no one to come save them huh?

Tell them to open a book. Seriously, high school is not that hard. I worked 20-25 hours a week my junior and senior year and still graduated top 10%. The people who fail out are the ones who just don't give a frick.

Might sound bad, but the sense of entitlement, at least in my generation is gone. If you want it, earn it. We get blamed because we are white, we don't get near the financial aid for school or in the real world. Mortgage company's must give x amount of loans to minorities and it is required by law.

At some point empathizing becomes enabling. An attempt to understand the unique set of circumstances and challenges faced by black kids in White America is disrespectful rather than respectful, communicating the unintended message that black kids are victims who cannot be held accountable for their actions.
