Are you talking about The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon in England in 1776? If that's the case, find something else to use because his work does not make the cut.

That's exactly what I was referencing (I did so earlier in this thread, actually). Whether or not you agree w/ it is immaterial, as your original statement was simply that it was "ignorant" to believe that the rise of Christianity contributed to the fall of Rome. It's just the opposite: anyone w/ a passing knowledge of the subject recognizes that Christianity's impact on Rome is a contested topic. It'd be far more ignorant to be unaware of the idea that Christianity could've contributed to Rome's decline.

I, personally, don't have much knowledge of the subject outside of basic history courses and the assigned readings of a fanatical Latin professor. But I have a fairly solid grasp of the definitions of words and how to use them.

I can't seem to grasp the fact that somehow being gay is normal

So sticking your dick into another man's rectum, a place where shite comes out of and is intended to be a one way exit, is normal?

That is not normal, that is gross.

The Science:

Currently, research is moving towards markers or epigenetics. Summary, the body makes a mistake and the offspring has a predisposition towards the same sex. A recent study shows that a mother who uses amphetamines and smokes increases the chances of the offspring becoming gay. It's the same as a expecting mother who eats poorly and gains massive amounts of weight. The off spring = diabetic, and obese (with time). In fact, they are also looking for cures for markers.

Sorry if this hurts peoples feelings on either side of the isle. Yep born that way, but not intended to happen that way.

The History:

The movement was founded on the shoulders of men who were pedophiles.

Gerber.. Was arrested with his assistant after being turned in by the assistant's wife after she caught them doing things to boys. He is considered a founding father of the movement. Fact. PBS Even listed him as such.

Hay.. Huge activist. Noted as a founding father. He wore a sign in a march that stated "NAMBLA walks with me". Look up NAMBLA term if you want.

Both of the above are taught in over 3,700 schools across the US according to GLSEN. The Founder of GLSEN wrote the book used. He was appointed as the head of "safe Schools" by Obama. His book includes a chapter from another book called "The trouble with Harry" (Harry Hay). That chapter is about man/boy "love". The founder of GLSEN and SAFE SCHOOL head site Hay as an inspiration to him. Jennings (head of GLSEN) knew exactly what Hay stood for. He was there at the march where Hay wore the sign. He read the book "the trouble with Harry".

CURRENT EVENTS:

Currently, there is a major push to get pedophilia to be listed as a sexual orientation. This is not a government thing. The government does not choose what is or is not a sexual orientation. That is the APA. Doctors.

B4u-ACT is one organization of Doctors who is pushing for this to be labeled as a orientation. Professors from Harvard agree. A head of Johns Hopkins agrees. He was the Key note speak at the B4U-Act conference in Baltimore. Johns Hopkins even released a response to his actions! The APA almost changed it to an orientation in 2013. After it was discovered, the back lash prompted them to reprint Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

Also, These Doctors state that Man/boy love is not a bad experience most of the time. That it is a positive experience.

THAT is where we are at and I can back up everything I just stated with their OWN words!

Michael Sam's announcement has singlehandedly rekindled the Mizzou/Kansas rivalry. The world may be ending

And here, in my opinion, is the rub. The question isn't whether or not you "support" his gay lifestyle. It's whether you believe he should be penalized by society for that lifestyle. That's what makes someone a bigot.

Michael Sam is courageous because he has taken a huge risk. Yes, it was forced on him - one only needs to read the disgusting Burwell article in the Post Dispatch this morning to see that the media was chomping at the bit to break this story. But instead of letting the story be told by some hack with a jones for ratings, he decided to tell it himself and let the chips fall where they may. That is bravery, IMO.

Sam is living his life in a way true to himself, and any sin he's committing is no less or greater than any other. No one has to like it. But he should be treated no differently than anyone else, especially with regard to his talent and profession. If his sin is a problem for people fine - they should treat him the same as they would any other sinner. Or they are a bigot.

ETA - and no, I don't buy the "pedophilia and homosexuality are the same" argument. Pedophilia preys on the vulnerable who aren't capable of making a rational, adult decision. Pedophilia is inherently a practice between one person with more power and one with less; it creates victims. Homosexuality between two consenting adults may be considered a sin by some, but gay people are not preying on children.

Well said semo.

Ignorant: lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated.

I used it right.

I wonder if some of the ranters on here would hate him if he had played for their team, and accomplished what he did. Probably 50/50. I'll be completely honest I could care less whether he gay or not, 2 star was kicking arse this year. It took some balls to come out like that at this point in his career, he has no way to go but up. I've been reading this thread since 7:21pm yesterday and some of these posters are all over the place. Mizzou posters, remember where we would be if Sam hadn't had the season he had. He's our DE, and I'd tell him great season if I saw him in person, and probably would give him daps for helping us win the East. I don't support his lifestyle choice, but we've been through most of the hatred since we joined the SEC. I'm going to judge him by his skills on the field instead of his openness about his lifestyle. Yes the good book does speak about homosexuality, but that is for God to judge and not us. And the MSU player that tweeted his thoughts on this subject, and all the rest of you spilling all this hatred and quoting the bible to justify yours. Judge not lest ye be judged. For the same that you judge, you will be judged also. MIZ-ZOU.

Then you better learn to stand up, cause it's happening around you right now. Doctors are now disagreeing with you.

Yeah, I don't think Jordan Hare was ever open for anyone to play in.

This is /thread IMO

Seconded. Well done semo.

Of course, though, the thread will keep going and going. What is the record for length, if anyone even knows, for non-game threads/non-sticky threads, or specifically threads about just one news item not an ongoing thing? This has to be way up there already and it hasn't even been 24 hours since the story broke
