quote:That is fine. FWIW, I'm not making an argument at all.
View it as sinful for as long as you'd like. Just understand that, for the millions of Americans (and billions of human beings) who don't share your religious beliefs, those arguments fall on deaf ears.
quote:Where have I indicated all gay people were going to hell or attempted to tell anyone how to live their life?
If I were a Muslim, and I were to tell you that you're going to hell because you don't bow to Mecca five times a day, you'd also not really care what I had to say, and you might even resent the implication that I somehow know how you should or shouldn't be living your life.
quote:I'm fine with you pushing back on my religious belief. My only concern as that you misunderstand my religious belief because others who claim the same religion have been ignorant about what the religion actually says on the subject.
If you understand that, then you can certainly understand why people like me, who don't share your religious beliefs, would push back on them.

I don't believe you should either.
Let's take it to the extreme. I don't think Westboro Baptist Church is doing anything illegal. I don't think they should be forced to "celebrate" or "accept" anything they don't want to. But when they profess their beliefs, those who don't agree with them should also have the right to say "not so fast, assholes" and call them out for their shite.
That's how a free society works. Don't peddle this bullshite "I shouldn't be forced to celebrate or accept" homosexuality argument because that's not at all what's happening here. You're professing your beliefs and expressing your opinions, and other people are doing the exact same but to the contrary.

So again, we come to..if its two consenting adult individuals doing something in the privacy of their own home--what business is it of yours? And how is it hurting you?

Not true. If I'm asked my opinion, which I have been by several friends and even a few co-workers I have two choices:
1. Say, "I won't comment on that." or "I'd prefer not to discuss such things."
2. Say my beliefs that it is a sin, but I have feel no different towards that person anyway.
Both of those will get a less than happy response and both of those will have people calling me bigoted, an idiot, uneducated, etc.

That's exactly what much of this thread has been. You must accept it or you're a bigot.

Apparently 2 consenting adults is the same thing as someone having sex with their dog.

It's not. But when it's made to be a public issue, by the individuals, there will be public opinions on the matter.

Never said it did, nor have I expressed that it has or would.

Who talks about this kind of thing in the workplace?

Rome celebrated homosexuality quite a bit. Just before it's downfall.

See, Chrsitians who actually follow the teachings of Jesus Christ will never tell you your judgment, because we do not judge as human beings. We are incapable and it isn't our place to judge.
Saying it is a sin is not the equivalent of me saying gays are going to hell.

And he clearly explained why HE felt the need to announce it. I'm guessing you are not close to someone that is gay and have not witnessed the anguish they may have felt on coming out. The reason people come out is because for one reason or another, they've lived a lie and they're ready to put that lie aside and live their life being who they are.
Well...they can put their lies aside and live being who they are....quietly. No reason to impose upon the rest of us, who have nothing to do with them, their beliefs, values, or anything else. I don't care if doing so "cures their anguish". I didn't cause their anguish, so I shouldn't have to endure the anguish of having to be told how noble and bold people who have differing views are...especially when I find those views distasteful. Oh, and with regard to gays NOT wanting attention....that's just stupid. Sam could have told his mom, his dad, his teammates, his priest or whoever he wanted to. No attention, nobody would care. To decry your need to be left alone to a friggin NEWS REPORTER??? C'mon man. That's just dumb.

women.
Seriously, you'd be surprised how little common sense people have. I heard a freaking Trayvon Martin debate going on between a white guy and black guy in the office.

Me too, and I'm gonna jump out.
Most of the people I've been chatting with are good folks, and I know that. I just don't understand how they feel the way they feel, and they probably think the same about me (I hope so, at least).
WDE, Moustache, it's been real. I've got work to do so I'm out. I hope I've been thought provoking.

I would imagine, he'd be castigated by the gay community for "not taking a stand", if he had done that. Not like that hasn't happened before either.

Oh I know it did. But surely you're not insinuating that gays haven't been persecuted worldwide?

He did. Read the articles. He told his teammates before the season even started, and the only reason he came out publicly was so HE could own the story of who he is.

And you're not insinuating that sexual immorality hasn't been a great contributor to the downfalls of great civilizations are you?
