Well who controls the markets really isn't a point that was ever considered. The SEC package would come with the local cable package anyways. So those people would be buying the SEC product whether they watched it or not. Or even whether they realized it or not.

If I'm not mistaken, the current SEC members voted on y'alls admission.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The term democracy was in refrence to SEC *fans*, not PRES/AD's.

And I am confident no issues is put to vote by the commish until he KNOWS the outcome in advance.

No, but they have a very large number of viewers there.

Fine, but the university is still situated in a poor state with a small population with no large metro areas of its own (Charleston is the largest metro area with around 300k population).

It is a pretty state, where hillbillies haven't trashed it.

I'm from the D.C. area, and there are a shite ton of WVU fans there. Hell, half of WVU's students are from those very areas.

Missouri - 6 Million

I didn't ever see that happening, cause sorry, but West Virginia is a little creepy

Meh, WVU is on the Pennsylvania border and a very large number of their students come from out of state.

Hey, girl! And hey Cat!

We may not have been at the top of the fans' lists, but y'all will come to appreciate us. We may not be a traditional powerhouse, but we're solid, and have had some good years recently. And we're competitive in a lot of sports, including basketball, gymnastics, softball, baseball (usually, this is a down year), volleyball, etc. Plus, we bring more $$ into everyone's pockets.

We know many of y'all don't know much about us, and I understand why - I have a lot to learn about most of the SEC schools. Some of my initial impressions have been wrong. We're pretty cool for the most part - I think y'all will like us in the long run!

Hey! I don't have a problem with Mizzou. Just messin' with the new kids. At least you have female cheerleaders.

Spent 5 years at Fort Meade and yes there are a shite ton of WV fans in that area. Most of them left WV for the better working opportunities in and around the DC area. Some of them actually commute from WV to work in DC.

I honestly don't have a problem with Mizzou being in the SEC. Y'all are kinda Yankee-ish [yes, I'm making that a word] to me, but at least y'all are ahead of TAMU. Y'all have female cheerleaders

ETA: and Cat beat me to the cheerleader punchline. Hoboken? Do they know Buddy?

Yes, we have female cheerleaders, and our own Golden Girls. There are some male cheerleaders - they're there pretty much to throw the girls up in the air.

We know we're gonna get hazed. That's cool. And Busey....... Yeah, we choked in the tournament, but you know we'd have beaten most of the teams in the SEC this year!

It's also not a very good school & doesn't bring as much $ or TV markets.

Kentucky has one of the most valuable Tier 3 deals in the country, they did not get that from not bringing in $$$$ and eyeballs.

If you are going to troll, at least know what you are trolling. Check the NCAA records for football attendance over the past decade for Missouri and Kentucky, and I have the feeling Kentucky wins that one. In basketball it is no contest considering Rupp seats 24K.
