So haith suspended 5 games equals....

quote:

Two Final Four appearances wiped out of the NCAA record books forever.

ESPN has reported that John Calipari’s Memphis team will have to “vacate” its 38 wins from the 2007-2008 season, including five NCAA tournament wins.

quote:

No matter what you think about Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari, you have to admit he has a remarkable talent for getting out of town one step ahead of the posse. Last week Calipari achieved the dubious distinction of becoming the first coach to have two Final Four appearances stricken from the record books

quote:

Final Four, with UMass in 1996, was vacated after star player Marcus Camby was ruled ineligible for having accepted $28,000 as well as jewelry and prostitutes from agents. In both cases, in fact, Calipari had already landed a lucrative new job.

And to reiterate, he was suspended for not reporting a threat on an assistant by a booster to the NCAA.

Calipari was never implicated personally in any of the events you mention. Sorry, try again. The jealousy of Cal I guess is only rivaled by the jealousy of Saban.

can you please explain the 7 point swing in the game?

Your players are stupid and fouled at the end of a game with a tiny lead?

We are capable of making free throws?

Your coach is the dirtiest in the game, I get why you defend him since he is your coach but still comical..

I'm sure it's just a coincidence everywhere he has been something happens..

How about the missed traveling call? Certainly home-cooking it's the only possible explanation otherwise you would have kept the game in Columbia under 20

But that isn't all of Miami's punishment. They self imposed some penalties

Oh PLEASSSSSSE! What? Not go to tier 3 bowl with crappy records anyway? The Univ of New Jawsey @ Coral Gables was an outlaw renegade school that their tongue out at NCAA rules...it was corrupt in every way...and it wasn't a bad investigation either as the deskjocks kept reporting..the NCAA had numerous statements from PLAYERS telling of the misconduct.

The schools High Princess Shalala bang bang dooie doo doo wah was defiant and gave the tough act..but on the Dan Patrick radio show this am Dan kept sprouting that Miamuh was compliant with the investigation and self imposed penalties and did whatever the NCAA asked of them....WTF? Dan Patrick needs a fact checker...they did nothing of the sort at that school. Its easy to impose a ban on a bowl when you are 6-6 Danny Boy.

I agree. There's no real punishment for cheating any longer.

Tell that to Coach Pearl.

Or maybe the NCAA just hates BBQs they're not invited to.

OK, NCAA hates UT. Maybe it's because he's Jewish. NCAA is anti-semetic?

I didn't see any traveling?

Surely you aren't blaming your team's collapse on one missed traveling call?

If it was a clean investigation, the punishments would have been more severe. It wasn't, so they weren't. The NCAA knew that if they imposed steeper penalties that the University of Miami and/or Haith would sue. And if they sued, a bunch of uncomfortable facts would come to light. They can't have that. This was likely a predetermined destination that the recipients signed off on so as to avoid court for the NCAA.

"Well, Frank, if we suspended you for 7 games would you not sue us?"

"How about 5 and I don't mention all your misrepresentations and shoddy investigation tactics in a presser"

We'll probably have a better idea if the U and Haith rather meekly go along with the punishments.

Is this thread going to last as long as the bumbled investigation? If so, you all need to lawyer up!

I'm actually starting to think NCAA hates small time cheats. Big time cheats they seem to be 'meh' but heaven help you if you're a small timer. Look at Bama's Haha Clinton-Dix vs UT's Mo Couch (Mo's involved in the Bama-Fluker-Yahoo scandal). HaHa is already back. NCAA hasn't said shite about Mo and Mo took petty cash for his daughter, owned up to it, apologized publicly, talked freely with the NCAA and has been out since the Oregon game. He should've been out 4 games max plus a fine/repayment of the $$.

Since he's a senior lineman even if they reinstated him right now, he may never again get to play another down.

I think it's simpler than that. They're a petty, ego-driven organization. They nailed Pearl because he initially flipped them the bird and public sentiment was different even then.

Their enforcement is indeed odd in different scenarios.

GTFO LSU fan. You don't know why Haith got 5 games. He is lucky the NCAA botched the investigation. Paying $10 grand to keep a snitch talking is not minor stuff.

Worry about your house. I am sure ol Johnny will get the old doctor in town to kick up the benefits.

Can you point to the section of the report where that was demonstrated? TIA
