Why do people keep discussing this crap that was started by a fake Mizzou fan that was trying to get people riled up? Guess it worked

Illinois imprint into the STL area is overstated.
There are more Mizzou fans in the metro-east than Illini fans in Missouri. This is because Mizzou games in the late 70s & 80s were on local TV, while Illini games were on cable, which no one in Southern Illinois had at the time.
Chicago is very similar, in that it has a ton of Mizzou fans, but also a healthy mix of Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Wisconsin fans meaning that if the Illini are the #1 school it isn't by much.
As someone who has lived in Columbia, St. Louis (both sides of the River), and in Chicago. This is pretty spot on.
The number of Mizzou people in Chicago is surprising to say the least.

Mizzou leaves and the SEC picks up WVU. Really don’t know why it wasn’t this way to start. The St. Louis and Pittsburg TV markets are about the same.
Because Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania. WVU wasn’t added to begin with because they add no incremental revenue to the league. I don’t know why you dumbasses in Louisiana can’t get that through your thick heads.
The contract with ESPN is structured by $$$ per subscription in the footprint states. Adding a school in the footprint brings no additional revenue, and schools in small states receive more payout than they generate. Our next schools will come from Virginia and North Carolina, or not at all.
Good lord, some of you suck at math.
