They did play in the Jan 41 Orange Bowl.
Also, they would've played in the Sugar Bowl when they won the SEC the next season but they got stuck on the west coast because of Pearl Harbor (they had played an extra regular season game @ San Francisco on Dec 6).

The SEC champ wasn't locked into the Sugar Bowl until the 75 season.

Yeah, I didn't even mention the year you went to no bowl. The year after you won six and went to the Birmingham Bowl.

Let's not pretend you're some SEC juggernaut. You're like the 350lb guy at the YMCA gym bragging about his dropstep and even how much better it was years ago.
