Gulfport MS. AD says they should try again in the spring if things have settled down. Says 10 Athletic Directors from the Mississippi Coast are sending a proposal to the High School Association this week outlining plans. Will be interesting if more folks think this way.

Would be tough on smaller schools where an athlete may play football, basketball, and baseball. Need to play in the fall.

My son needs this year. If he can put another good QB season on it could really open up opportunities to play that position in high school. Would suck if they canceled his 8th grade season.

Yes , I am an AD and coach at a small school in Ms and it would be very difficult to manage . All sports depend on the same group of 20-25 kids to fill our teams

I haven’t heard this mentioned by anybody in the northern part of the state so far

I feel like the NFL and professional sports have a near 80% chance of happening just do to everyone being on contract and it being a job for everyone.

College/HS seem much harder and the last line to do so..how can you force a bunch of college/HS students to self isolate due to COVID and what if they get it and someone dies from it. No the odds aren't high but 1 is more than none.

I think they should put the decision off to August. But I think rational people see this is a delima for HS/College administrators

Good luck to your Son and I hope he can avoid injuries and develop enough to get a free College Education, also kudos to you for letting him play FB, seems like a lot of soft arse parents are scared to let their Kids play HS FB

I hope his Athletic Career works out well

If they cancel the public school season, the private school association should go ahead with playing their season.

Absolutely insane we are doing all of this because of a virus with a mortality rate on par with the flu

Open opportunities to play high school football?

It’s a signup and tryout. Just tell him to go, he doesn’t have to be recruited for HS football

Opportunity to play QB in high school. I watched some of the QB competition this year and the two boys who shared time as QB on the 8th grade team were the only freshman to be considered.

Myles won the starting job at my son’s school as a sophomore...and threw 64 touchdowns that year. IDK if he played JV his freshman year or just sat behind Tyler Allen.

Last year playing in 7th was my son’s first football experience, and he was mostly a running QB. Got first team all conference, but he got hurt running it too much. Hopefully this year coaches will develop a receiver or two...hell, hopefully they play this fall.

Looks like Mississippi has put off any decisions until at least July 14.

HS school baseball is about to get screwed again. 1/3 of a season in the spring. If they put baseball in the fall it will be over by the middle of October. This shite is shutting down before November. Bank on it.
