leach was treated like crap while going 9-4, boosters can’t wait to scrap the offense and fire Leachs staff...they do. Subsequently waste a 9-4 season go 5-7. Don’t recruit at all. Hire Lebby he doesn’t recruit at all.
Where are you getting this bullshite? Leach absolutely was not on the way out and his staff was going nowhere pre death.

Being purposely obtuse or you are just stupid.
Boosters did fire Leachs staff and scrap his offense destroying the 2023 season. No recruiting was done, Arnett fired. A lazy hire of Lebby who once again whiffed in the portal and now we have 1-11 season.
Next year will be just as bad.

I see it as an administrative failure going back to 2016, and this the culmination of years of bad decisions.
Fall 2016, Scott Stricklin leaves for Florida and State replaced him with….. the baseball coach. And it has kinda been downhill ever since. Leach had some modest short term success, albeit with players he did not recruit. But behind the scenes his staff’s recruiting was slowly poisoning the well. Now you are seeing the long term effects of that.
I have no idea on Lebby. He’s a first time head coach that’s not off to a very good start but he also inherited a mess. I don’t think it’s totally fair to pin it all on him. And he’s gonna get at least three years regardless I think. They’ve had too much turnover in the last six years, they need somebody to stay in place for a bit.
I do think there are major culture problems in State’s athletic department, university, and fan base. Too much complaining about the new law of the land and not enough adapting to it. Too much hoping for Ole Miss to regress/Kiffin to leave Oxford and not enough effort being put into to elevating ourselves like our arch rival has. I think Keenum is possibly past his expiration date now, and I’m not sure if Zac Selmon was a good AD hire or not.
You can place blame on several different coaches but my beef is with the administrators making these decisions and not being held to the fire for it.

The fact that they hire Mike Leach is what's going on. I will say it. Leach was a character but he was not a great and maybe not even a good coach. He was a character for certain but his coaching was always questionable. The fact that he was hired at a SEC school is indicative of that school's issues on the football field.

Also it’s really easy blame NIL but you seriously think Toledo and even Arizona State have better NIL than you? Absolutely not. There are plenty of things other than NIL wrong at State.

Supposedly that hire came down to Leach and Sarkisian at the very end. Yeah Sark probably leaves fairly quickly if you hire him at that point but everyone knew the transition to the Air Raid would be painful on the front end and on the back end.
It’s seriously a lot like what Georgia Tech went through with Paul Johnson and the wishbone.

9-4 to 1-11 in two years, really smart decision makers in Starkville.
