Do you think this is the year, that the Bulldogs get past the defending SEC West Champs of Auburn and Alabama to win the SEC West?

While it’s a long shot, what is a season without hope? Let’s be honest here. How easy is it to be a Bama, LSU, Auburn fan? Still love my Bulldogs

At least imo, it's the best feeling of hope for a State football team in my 37, almost 38 years.

One of the most enjoyable years of my 50+ years of being and MSU fan was 2014. It was also the one I enjoyed the least. Once we kind of got going and moved up and up and reached the top of the heap, it was like "when is the other shoe going to drop?" So - my plan is hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I won't go through another season like that. I'll just enjoy the ride wherever it takes us.

This is probably the best shot to make it in the college football playoffs. After this season they will have lost a lot of good ball players and will take a step back to normalcy. Would love to upset them again and keep the Golden Egg in Oxford tho!

There is a lot of guarded optimism about this team. I don't think we have ever seen this much top to bottom talent on a Mississippi State team EVER! Playing in the SEC West as all of you know is no cakewalk. I don't care how good you are the dice has to roll the right way for it to be an extra special season. We will see what happens!

Once upon a time MSU was preseason 4th in the nation. That’s how many games we won. I’ve watched us crash and burn too many times. I am cautiously optimistic.

Alabama was decimated when State played them in November. I have a feeling that won't change when we face them again. But can I pick State to win in Tuscaloosa? No. Can I pick them to go 11-1? Yes.

Long shot. That's a hell of a lot to ask, let alone expect.

I think these dozen or so comments are an excellent sample of how 95% of state fans feel. Are we talented enough to do it? Probably. Are we lucky enough for everything to fall into place? Probably not. But it's mid August and hope springs eternal and that's why they play the games.

Like someone said, how easy is it to be a Bama, barn, or LSU fan? While it's not likely that all that happens, if it does then by God us State fans have earned it. But honestly, I don't know of a roster I'd trade ours for in the SEC right now straight up. Hurry up Sept 1!
