You LSU fans love him in the off-season and hate him during the season. I guess we just disagree but Les Miles is not a great coach. His national championship team was senior laden and full of Saban's players. 2007 was an extremely rare situation in which LSU lost their final regular season game and was somehow able to get a spot in the NC game. I know you are just going to defend your coach like any other fan would, but his teams have been laughably fortunate on many occasions. Most people around the country recognize this.

I agree. Mack Brown is an extremely OVERRATED coach.

Dude's not that good.

Mack Brown was winning 10 games a year at North Carolina. It should be fairly easy to win at Texas but he has been doing something right for a long time. He may not be great with X's and O's but he knows how to build a program.

So they had been coached by Miles for 3 years and most hadn't even seen the field while Saban was there or met him but they were all Saban players. Idiot

I guess Chizik just won the Tub-o-douches players

many occasions?? He's been here 7 years. How 'bout naming me 10-15 "laughably fortunate" occasions since it happens so often?

Just because you hate Miles, its no reason to just make shite up.

I can agree with this, but he should have at least won another national title since he's been at Texas.

And a 5-7 record on top of that is just pathetic.

No doubt about that. And I also agree that he should've won more big 12 championships and NC's for as talented as they've been. The 2009 NC game could have been a lot different if Colt McCoy hadn't gotten hurt though.

If only he could have parlayed a 5-19 record into a BCS title with a ringer QB on the take. Now that's some coaching.

I've never hated Miles, not a fair weather fan

Many, ok that may make sense. Do you think they would be fortunate on many occasions with shitty players? He recruits extremely well and with talent comes "fortunate plays". We had a frick up in Ryan Perriloux who was going to be the guy, but Miles did the right thing and let him go. Miles fixes weaknesses when they arise. The QB situation has been frustrating but Miles and co plays with who they feel gives us the best chance to win.He truly loves the game.

No moron, I was referring to LSU fans hating Miles during the season even when he's winning. An example would be last year when LSU was 7-0 and fans knew they should be 4-3 and bitched about it incessantly. But by all means go worship your mediocre HC and bullshite yourself into thinking he's great for your program.

Miles remains divisive for a couple obvious reasons:

1) he can come off as a goofball at times - this makes it easier to mock him or disparage his accomplishments
2) he followed a highly successful coach in Nick Saban

Speaking for myself the Ole Miss game in 2009 was a travesty that greatly under-mined my confidence in him... but as time faded I started to get a little more perspective. It was just one game... it was a colossal cartoonish frick up IMO - but it was just one game... and coming back in 2010 to win 11 games was enough for me to feel LSU is trending upwards again.

When you step back and realize Miles has been in the SEC for years now and is competing successfully heads up with some guys regarded as the best coaches (esp Saban and Meyer) in the US (with some of the best talent in the US)... there really is no way around giving him some respect

His bowl record is excellent. His winning percentage is excellent. He recruits at a very high level and he seems to run a clean program.

Overall Miles seems well positioned to do very well at LSU in the coming years and I like him on the sidelines... let him eat all the grass he wants

Well.. He did. The problem with your argument is that he won with less talented players than the ones he's recruiting now. He's getting better players than the ones on the team that won the NC.

I like Miles. I think he's a good guy but I think he's not as good of a coach as his record suggests. Go back and watch last season and tell me I'm lying when I say you got very lucky in the UNC game, when 13 players of their NFL laden roster were suspended before the game. Or when they dropped a pass on the final 2 plays in the end zone. Or again in the UT game, when they had 13 players on the field on a play in which they stopped you on the goal line, allowing LSU another chance despite horrible clock management by Miles. Or in the UF game when Miles called a fake FG (when a FG would have tied the game) with 35 seconds left in which the ball was lateraled and bounced perfectly into your guy's hands. And that was just last year. Like I said, I like Miles and think he's a nice guy. But I can only laugh when things like that happen, because it just feeds into his reputation as being a ridiculously lucky coach.

They don't vacate titles for being a lucky coach just for being a crooked bastard like Chiz!

That's because Tubb's layed the foundation.....Chiz is just a lucky SOB who pay's players and uses God to his benefit.

:see how that feels:

And HOW do you know the players he's getting are BETTER than the one's that were there?? Because they had another * by there name?

luck evens out eventually

LSU did screw up the end of the UT game and they were lucky UT did them the favor of being just as incompetent

But my god we really could have used a good bounce in the Auburn game (instead of a 3 and out with the game in question)... or the Arkansas game where a young player gave up two big plays

There is really no point in arguing about individual games anyway... luck evens out eventually... you don't win for years and years on luck... especially not in the SEC
