I agree. It just is what it is, and it’s definitely a positive for Boiling. It’s like Danica Patrick being a good looking female race car driver. If she had been male with the same skill, no one would have cared.

People like storylines with their sports and anything unusual is likely to create public interest.

Absolutely this.

A phenomenom that will no doubt be repeated once a black male swimmer wins an individual gold medal at the Olympics.

I think we all are quite aware of what's at play here, so I don't know if the poster you are responding to is intentionally trying to be obtuse or not.

This is about stereotyped white guys as being slow and unathletic, getting a chuckle or two watching Boling on youtube videos smoke those black kids in the Texas State 100m like it was a Nazi propaganda film, with the added bonus of insecure black dudes coming out of the woodwork in the comment section, even going so far as postulating that because of his curly hair must certainly be part black.

Good times indeed,...and btw, a little tribalism never hurt a damn thing.

Boiling is famous because it’s unusual for a white kid to have his speed. The media would not have brought him to my attention if he were black like the vast majority of world class sprinters.

People are so overly sensitive when it comes to race- it's beyond crazy.

I remember watching a YouTube vid of a 5-9 white kid doing all kinds of exotic dunks at a HS All American hoops camp. The black kids were going CRAZY. Why? Cause that doesn't happen very often. It's a fact and pointing it out isn't racist.

Matthew Boling has the fastest h.s. time in history under all conditions....he went viral because he’s a rare athlete regardless of his race. Deal with that best you can, it seems to be an issue for you.

You are so right! They really don’t want all the facts to come on. There are countless stories of great speed and jumping records through out the years. Most just want to stay in their bubble and try to crush anyone that dares otherwise.

I have no issue with anything, I just thought it was funny that the LSU guy said Boling was the first person to break 10 seconds in high school when a black kid had done it 6 years prior. Neither of them counted for the record books officially because the were considered wind aided.

The only reason I would root against Boling is because the color of his jersey, not the color of his skin.

So chill my friend, I think Boling is a future Olympian and I will be rooting for him no matter his alma mater.
