The Patriots have trimmed their quarterback group by one.
Earlier today, they released QB Jonathan Crompton, a former University of Tennessee star who signed with the Pats practice squad in November. His agent Joel Turner confirmed the news.
Crompton was a 2010 fifth round draft pick by the Chargers who has not taken an NFL snap. He’ll be subject to the NFL’s waiver wire, but because he was cut so late, he may not go on it until tomorrow. That means he could find a new home on Wednesday.
Crompton had been the No. 3 quarterback but third-rounder Ryan Mallett had already moved ahead of him, despite being in the early stages of learning the playbook.

am I the only guy that thinks Mallett isn't intelligent enough to handle the pro's?

eh, I think his Vanilla Ice shite is just an act... he's got all the ability in the world if he does the work. Russell makes Mallett look like Einstein. I think Mallett will do ok.

Actually Mallett isn't even on the depth chart yet. His and Ridley's deals were denied by the NFL board.

Idk during those QB things with Gruden he seemed to grasp the Playbook pretty damn well and sounded a lot more intelligent in that aspect than Cam Newton did.
You just have to know football, and I feel like that's all he knows.

No. There are probably more but none of them, just like you, coach in the NFL.

Well Arkie runs as close a thing there is to a true pro style attack in college and New England is one of the best situations out there so I think he has a decent shot. If he had stayed at Michigan and gotten drafted by the Bengals he would be fricked.

Ridley

Rookie running back Stevan Ridley, who's been issued No. 37, has a nice shake to his running style and can thump as well. During a 9-on-7 drill, he came through the guard-tackle hole near the goal line and was met hard by linebacker Dane Fletcher who left the collision shaking his left arm after what may have been a mild stinger.
hope Stevan does well in NE.

Mallett just out talented Crompton. You could see that coming from a mile away.

You want to know why or how he can learn the playbook so easily?
That is because the New England Pats and the Arkansas Razorbacks run very similar plays and offensive schemes.

Ridley is a bull, just lacks break away speed. He has excellent balance though.

If he stayed at Michigan he would have never seen the field
