I'm not going to get into the debate about who is a better pro prospect, but if this agent is the one trying to slander him if I were the Mallet's I would think about some legal action. He may have done drugs but as far as I know he has never been arressted or failed a drug test. Help me out here Arkie fans has he?
Posted on 3/11/11 at 8:49 am to TigerFanNKaty
Nope. Never failed a drug test and never been arrested for anything related to drugs.

How many um games have you watched? If you have seen them a lot you know 80% of there passing game is about 5 yard routes. Who knows if gabbert can even throw a football. You sound like my wife, who knows shite about football.

one good example of ryan getting over-trashed would be on profootballtalk.com. first, ryan gets crapped on b/c of the media interview at the combine for not discussing the drug rumors. then on the dan patrick show the other day ryan is asked whether he passed the drug test and ryan says 'yes, sir' so now they (brainiacs at pft) say he's lying because he hasn't gotten the results yet. umm, perhaps he's saying yes sir b/c he knows deep down in his heart of hearts that he passed.
which is it- should he answer the questions or not? because no matter what he does, he's going to get criticized. of course, florio and his cronies suck anyway so it's not surprising but it is still pathetic.

that's true but that place shouldn't even be considered a real news source. They put way too much of a spin on stuff.

first off, tons of NFL players smoke a little weed
second, Mallett walked into my friends frat house at Arkansas and said, "WHO WANTS TO GET RYAN MALLETT HIGH???" then they kicked him out

Gabbert has a better arm, wait, no he doesn't.
Gabbert had better numbers, oh wait, no he didn't. Mallett had more TD's, yards, yards per completion, and comp %.
Gabbert got his numbers and took his team to 10 wins against tougher competition, oh wait, no he didn't. Arkansas had 12th ranked strength of schedule, Missouri had 34th.
Gabbert has already learned, executed, and set records executing a pro-style offense in the best defensive league in America, oh wait, no he didn't - He played in a true spread passing offense in the Big Weak 12.
Gabbert is just such a better runner than Mallett, oh wait, EVERYONE is. But Gabbert is no Cam Newton himself. Gabbert had 112 rushes for just 28 positive yards (2.2 YPG). Mallett had -133 yards rushing, (-10.2 YPG). Mallett was sacked 25 times, Gabbert was sacked 22 times. Gabbert's "mobility" edge on Mallett will be even less in the NFL.

Gabbert is a can't miss. I have been a fan since watching his HS film, and at the elite 11. He will be the best in this class IMO.

You didn't answer the question. You being a fan of his since HS doesn't make Gabbert better than Mallett.

I have watched plenty of both. Gabbert has the edge in his decision making, mobility and accuracy. His arm is everything Mallet's is.

Gabbert did what he did, which was no better than Mallett, against much weaker defenses, and in a spread passing attack opposed to Mallett's execution of a pro-style offense in the SEC week in and week out.
And this is just plain wrong:
quote:
His arm is everything Mallet's is.
Don't take my word for it...
quote:
"Mallett is the best we've seen in this draft as far as what he does from the huddle to the line of scrimmage, the pre-snap stuff in the running game," an NFL person said. "He's way ahead of the rest. And he's got the best arm. It's not even close there. He is easily the one that's most ready to play." Mallett couldn't have done any better in his passing workout this week..."

People who evaluate prospects have different views. Gabbert will be the best QB in this draft. You can book it. I could link you to worthless opinions on why he is what he is too. I suspect he will very early in the first round.

You won't see Gabbert make many of these throws (sorry for poor quality, but you can still see how far and fast Mallett can throw the ball on the money):
Posted on 3/12/11 at 1:58 pm to Hawgeye
why Gabbert is better:
Accuracy in the short game, More mobile, decision making, he doesn't shut down after one bad decision, his wr's were not as talented as Mallett's, and he is more intelligent. Dude scored a 42 on the wonderlic test.
