i hate that kids get hurt.. gives teams excuses.. but the game is what it is and that shows what kind of coaching and conditioning you have by what depth you have behind it.. still i never wish for any collegiate player to get hurt..
as for houston nutt being a fraud?.. man thats just funny.. he took a team that was predicted to be no higher than 4th in the sec west and instead took us to the cotton bowl and we finished 2nd in the west at 9-3.. and beat your arkansas team.. i mean clearly the arknsas program is better than ole miss right?? (sarcasm in case you didn't know).. i mean really.. i know you hate nutt cause everything you've posted in this thread that hasn't kissed ryan mallets arse has referred to that.. but im waitin on a valid argument man.. surely you can do better than just be bitter at a coach who took you to an sec championship game

Nutt has a record against the top 25 that is deplorable. Have you seen it? His road record is laughable. Have you seen it? His career conference record is ho-hum and a tad over .500 after 11 years. His bowl record is 3-6.

Before leaving Arkansas he was the longest tenured BCS coach without a BCS bowl. He is still waiting.

He went to Atlanta twice, thanks to tie-breakers and an Alabama probation, only to go home with losses.

His resume reeks of being an average, mediocre coach that has accomplished little more than tying a division twice.

That sums him up. Just call a spade a spade.

Nutt is happy with a Cotton Bowl and rah rah speeches. That's who he is and the best he can offer. Luckily, that's all Ole Miss wants.

against the top 25? i believe florida, lsu, and texas tech were ranked this year.. and we almost had bama.. on the road? well shite.. i believe we lost on a last second field goal to wake, stopped just short against bama, beat florida and lsu (both teams ranked),oh and you.. man im not saying he's one of the best coaches in the sec.. but he took an arkansas team that had two losing seasons and won 9 games with them.. and consistantly had yall in bowl games.. and yall act like he ran your program into the ground..

This may seem biased, but don't claim savior of your program after the success of one year. I'll say the same for my own team. If we go undefeated (huge hypothetical) I would like to see us perform well another 2 years before I judged the situation. He ran our program into the recruiting Mud several times, partially because he doesn't do a great job of recruiting nationally and because he liked to play building projects on RBs and WRs and LBs. As he was at Arkansas he didn't have the greatest name to throw around to use as a tool. At OM he'll have the Juco capital of the world and a state to choose from that produces yearly a great deal of talent.

All in all STFU about Nutt. don't care if you're a Hugger or Darksider. Don't care if you want to say I'm an OM fan and Nutt is awesome or an Arkansas fan and are just glad to be rid of him. It doesn't matter but one day a year and it will be settled then.

not claiming savior.. i just do not believe we are going to suck again because of him.. either way with every coach at any school you can never fully judge them until their fourth year imo.. when the team is full of people they recruited.. so we'll wait and seee

Thank you for your rationality. I had to freak out to grab the attention of both sides of the argument. See you in October.

....and Petrino has been to a BCS bowl game and won his record 1-0. Nutt's BCS bowl record 0-0.

I hate to rain on your parade but Nutt is NOT a good recruiter. That is his main downfall and will show at Ole Miss sooner than later. Btw, Orgeron at Tenn will only make the downfall happen faster.

Arkansas has two qb's that almost any team in the SEC would love to have. If one goes down we have the other one.
We have a strong offensive line and will continue to get stronger. Even though we have had some injuries at RB, we still have a stable of RB's that should have a good year.
The WR's/ TE's will be among the best in the SEC.
Defensive frontline should be much improved this year. With who we have coming back and the new people we have coming in this fall filling in.
Linebackers much better. Last year was pretty hard on us in the linebacker position.
Defensive backfield,we recruited the # 1 in the nation.
I'm not saying fear us, but you will have to respect us.
As far as Ole Piss goes, well They barely beat us in Fayetteville last year, and we're coming to Oxfart to show you what a beating is!

Nutt and Ole Miss are like two peas in a pod. They both surprise you one year, and when the momentum builds for the following year, they both fall flat on their asses.

Hey man, I don't think anyone's overlooking Arkansas or comparing them to a MAC school (well maybe some but they are just flaming you).

I think people are just saying that Petrino has a ton of hype to live up to, and that hasn't really done much to live up to the level of respect, hype, and attention that those in the media have given him.

The SEC has an all-star roster of coaches, and it will be difficult to replicate the success he had at Louisville.

As for Nutt, the guy has done pretty well throughout his career. Yeah, he's an average recruiter. He almost always played LSU tough (well, except the 2nd half of the 2003 game) and sure, he's had his share of questionable calls, which all good coaches have. To illustrate my point, see:
- Nick Saban, almost every game at LSU where we could have gone for the jugular urban meyer style but relied on defense to close out the game.
- Urban Meyer is lucky that Tebow hasn't gotten hurt the amount that he runs him.
- Steve Spurrier, once revered as the best coach in the nation can't seem to get any traction at south carolina
- Tommy Tuberville - how many field goals does your kicker have to miss before you go for it on 4th?
- Les Miles - has a ton of questionable gameday calls on offense (let's fake a punt from our own 10, pass instead of get the field goal, etc; etc; etc;) but luckily most of them have worked out and I love him for it.
- Rich Brooks - was on the hot seat until the wildcats had a good season, and was once the Pac-10 coach of the year
- Mack Brown - has encyclopedic volumes of bad games and choke jobs but does have a national title.
- Pete Carroll - has the highest payroll in the league..err...I mean recruits the best players in the country and still drops 1-2 games a year. Had the best linebacking in the country last year and lets a 160 lb running back from oregon state stomp all over them.

stopped just short against bama

This may be splitting hairs, considering it was a close game in the second half, but Ole Miss didn't come up "just short" in 2008 against Alabama. Jevan Snead had a last desperate attempt at a play from midfield, with Brandon Deaderick bearing down on him. The pass fell well short of any Ole Miss reciever.

WHAT SEC school recruited Wilson? Petrino's BCS victoy was over noted power house Wake Forest.
Arkansas will be good but not dominate the conference.
