This is a whole chicken and egg argument, technically the defense played good enough to win vs Auburn.
An offense should never give up 14 points, in no situation ever.

No, that's not what that means. RB was running left to right. Ball hit him at the bottom of his back. That's turrible, and it shouldn't have ever been thrown.
That’s where you’re supposed to catch....
And since you’re so well versed in these types of things, what should he have done?

Our defense gave up 34 to Bo Nix. Is that really good enough to win?

Jesus, cut him some slack. That was his 3rd career start and first against a ranked team. Playing against Auburn in Jordan-Hare doesn’t help either
Every SEC Championship winning QB we've had under Saban played their first ranked team and had their 3rd career start at some point.
First year starters who won championships:
Greg McElroy - 2009
AJ McCarron - 2011
Blake Sims - 2014
Jake Coker - 2015
Jalen Hurts - 2016
Tua Tagovailoa - 2018
Somehow none of them managed to throw two touchdowns to the opponent.

You scored 45 and likely wouldve got more if he doesn't throw the picks so yeah...

Throw the ball away
Take a sack
Hand the ball to one of his offensive linemen and duck for cover
Throw the ball at Coach Saban
Hit one of the defenders in the nuts with the ball
Take a knee
Slide
Hand the ball to a defensive lineman and immediately tackle him
Literally anything but throw a pick six. The best decision would have been to simply throw the ball away. He didn't do any of those.

Granted they, au, did have a lot of 'luck' in the game, as it usually goes in that stadium. The defense could not however, get a crucial stop and seize the game. Any team with a pulse on offense moved the ball up and down the field on that defense. Texas A&M, South Carolina, even UT...LOL.

I’m guessing you didn’t watch the game. Mac was pressured immediately because Kaho whiffed on the block. He didn’t have time to do any of that

You have a valid point but Kaho didn't whiff. He didn't even make an attempt to impede the pass rusher. It was really embarrassing.

If he had time to hit Najee in the back with the ball:
Then he certainly had time to throw the ball away. And even if he didn't (he did), taking a sack would have been an exponentially better, game changing outcome.

If any RB on the team fumbled twice and it resulted in two scoop and scores, you people would demand he walk home from Tuscaloosa.
If Saban had let him take us on in instead of setting up for a chipshot fg, we'd played LSU in the CFP'S Nat'l.
Champ' Game!
Can u diggggiiiiiiittttt....!!!!?

Great. So how was he supposed to think of all that?

Because they tried to run it and were getting stoned. They were set up there after the PI call. Before that, the offense was getting stoned trying to run the ball inside the ten yard line.
"B A L O N E Y!"
AU couldn't stop a bunch of toddlers from running through their weak are defense! W/O the Pick6'S Bama blows AU out of the stadium!

Which part? Throw the ball away or take a sack?
As soon as he saw pressure. Just like every other QB in America does - from Pop Warner to the NFL - every single time they drop back to pass.

We lost games because of Tua. 2 turnovers, including giving LSU basically an extra 7 points before the half.
The defense held LSU scoreless the entire 3rd quarter and only 14 points the 2nd half. They actually did better against LSU than Clemson did against LSU.
Meanwhile, Tua and the offense only managed 7 points the entire 1st 3 quarters of the game, while also occurring 3 turnovers counting the fumbled snap by the punter. All in the 3rd quarter.
It wasn't until Sark stopped trying to win the game with Tua and started to use Najee Harris that the offense finally opened up and started a drive. Najee got a TD on that drive with a pass, so Tua gets the stats, but I watched the damn game and I know who drove the team down. 2 of Tua's TDs were because Devonta Smith was wide open, like 150 yards in 2 plays.
LSU had a worse defense than Alabama and still won the game. Because their offense didn't rely on explosive plays and their QB wasn't throwing an interception on 1st down from his own 26 yard line with only 20 seconds left in the half. Probably one of the dumbest plays I've seen while watching Alabama football in my life.
But please, tell me how many turnovers the offense can have before it's considered the problem against the eventual #1 team in the country.

Mac has a better chance of being drafted by the US Army than being anywhere near the first 5 or 6 rounds in an NFL draft. He is an all world scout team QB.

Exactly 0 with that defense. I mean, the first turnover of the game, LSU took the ball 95 yards in only a handful of plays for a touchdown. LOL.

Mac is an average QB. Kudos to him for working hard and earning playing time. Bama must improve significantly on defense if it wants to be back in Atlanta and the playoffs.
