If you don't have a deep threat in the NFL, you field gets a lot smaller. They will let you throw those 4 yard passes all day because they know it can not be sustained in long drives. The speed and closure rate of NFL DBs is night and day from CF. Again, NEs schedule gets harder from here on out.

Explain the stats that were posted of each of the QB's in Mac's class then Barner. I'll wait. You don't have to score 40 to win in the NFL. You can win taking care of the ball and playing good D

Next week the Aints go to Foxboro, so much for tough.

The surrounding cast for everyone else in that class is questionable at best, which is why they go high draft picks. Remember everyone talking about the great free agents the Pats signed ?

That has nothing to do with those stats. Are they ALL dumping the ball off?

No one makes them throw it to the other team. Lack of patience, maturity, forcing the ball, I could go on.

I don’t know nfl well but I read from nfl fans that the offense playbook right now is designed around Mac not taking deep shots so he doesn’t make the huge rookie mistakes. He has the arm to throw deep. Coach B is supposedly playing it conservative to let him get some experience and build confidence. I mean, it did work today it seems. The rookie for the Jets threw 4 picks trying to force longer throws. Mac seems solid in my opinion and has that dedicated and tough demeanor to him. I’d bet he shines over his career.

When you play for a bad team and you get behind, you sometimes have to force the ball. NE at least has a decent D to prop up a poor offense. The real problems comes when the Pats get behind. I said it last week, the NYJ are the worst team in the NFL and the Pats would get behind. Most of the rest of the schedule doesn't work that way.

Bill Belichick's has to get Mac some WR help and the rest will be history.

The difference is Wilson played the NE Defense and Jones played the Jets Defense.

You're making my point. You don't have to score loads of points to keep up. Hell you could almost play Gene Stallings style. Not quite.

Take care of the ball, play good defense and take what the other team gives you.

For this game, but you would think they would want to work on the deep throw with this bye week. They tried a few times, no luck.

Exactly. Pretty sure Trevor Lawrence would do just fine in NE under Belicheck.

He's a rookie

a rookie!

Just wait until he's gotten enough exposure to NFL defenses and they bring in wr help!

Yep. The gameplan today was for the offense not to lose the game. The Jets can't score, and BB knew that. Bill is about winning, not getting the rookie quarterback stats fricktards will be impressed with. However, the Pats do need some downfield threats.

When you get drafted in top few picks of the draft, you are going to a dumpster fire. Being on the Patriots is quite an advantage. Mac Jones in Jacksonville, Cincinnati, or New York would look a lot different. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always thought he was going to be good in the NFL, but you can’t compare apples to oranges when it comes to comparing him with these other qbs at this point.

BS. The object is to throw it to someone wearing the same jersey as you no matter what level you are playing. You have to execute.
He could be sitting on the bench watching Cam Newton, but he isn't. There's a reason for it. He beat the man out. He's doing what he's being asked to do at a pretty high level compared to others with his experience level.
