You cant say what they did in Sugar Bowl is how the offensive line is going to play this season. That is just wishful thinking, when you have a guy the week before game get sent home. It messed up the chemistry and continuity that they had developed. Obviously in any situation where you have a guy with little or no experience thrown into a game where he has had little/no time to prepare its bad (see LSU QB situation last year)
They have had all summer to gel, not to mention spring practice and will have fall practice to gel as a unit before the first game.
Wide Receiver situation is same as last year except with more incoming (young) talent there. Since Bama offensive is hand off to Ingram or any other stable of running backs McElroy wont be running any more than JPW did last year. Like I stated the only issue would be maybe 1/2 more sacks per game given up coming from blind side.
To expect Bama offensive line to go in crapper just because Smith isn't there is wishful thinking.
I have stated this before and will again here, LSU lost Herman Johnson who they liked to run towards his side because of his size and fact he could take on 2 defensive lineman and also our center who dictates and audibles the offensive line. These guys were each starters for multiple years. While we didn't lose a guy who protected the QB's blindside we did lose 2 valuable positions. So you can probably expect a drop off in our offensive production because of that also.
But like most people LSU is replacing talent with talent so is Bama.
The OT is the second most important position on the offense for a reason. It's the hardest one to replace. The Tide do not have the same quality at OT this year as they did last year, bottom line.

Except most of us watched the Sugar Bowl, and saw what the Tide OL looked like without Andre Smith.
I'll preface this by saying, we shouldn't have been as bad as we started that game. Now, we lost our starting LT 3 days before the game, then lost our backup the first series. We had a third string playing in that game, so there is reason to have had suckage. We will be better than that game this season. Not as good as last year, but not as bad as most seem to think either.

The WR situation is not as rosy as you paint it. And the TE position will be the most important early on, not WR. McElroy will be running for his life early on.
It's better than last year. We lost 2 Sr. TE's, but I think Peek is better than either we had coming in and Smelley was coming on strong and playing alot towards the end of last year. I think we'll be in ok shape here also. Overall, I think we'll be sufficient on our Oline to have a successfull season with the defense we have to compliment them.

Nobody knows the injuries each team will be dealing with 6 games into the season. Injury free and unbeaten with the game in Tiger Stadium, LSU should be no more than a 3.5 point underdog to Florida. A break here or there and this can come down to which team has the ball last.

Wash - Win
Vandy - Win
Laffy - Win
Miss St - Win
Georgia - Loss
Florida - Loss
Aub - Win
Tulane - Win
Alabama - Win
La Tech - Win
Ole Miss - Win
Ark - Win
10-2, but undefeated in the west. Another close loss to FLA in SEC title.
Alabama just doesn't scare me. Defense is good, offense not so much. I think Alabama's success this year depends on the VT game. I think last year's team played way over its head due to an excellent performance against Clemson. The momentum carried throughout the season, until it fizzled against the utes. I think this year, the start against VT won't be so good. If I am wrong and Bama skull fricks VT, Bama will be tough for LSU to beat. Ole Miss will come back to reality. They cannot handle the expectations and neither can Nutt. No where near the talent of LSU and Bama and certainly not the depth. Ole Miss loses 4 or 5 games.

Is that the P&G wishful thinking talking?
Does LSU have same quality? Or is that P&G wishful thinking also?
Your replacing 4 guys between 2 teams that were pivotal to each teams success in recent years.
LSU fans under estimate exactly what our center does for team and how he dictates the changes among offensive line. Also looking at Herman we ran towards his side probably majority of the time. Mainly because he could occupy and flatten 2 defenders at once, that now changes.
Both teams lost talent, both teams are replacing that talent with young inexperienced guys who are talented, we just don't know how talented.
To say one team is going to drop off alot worse and the other is actually going to be better is wishful thinking. Both teams will suffer a drop but both will still be productive because it won't be that bad.
Both teams have had all spring, summer, fall to put talent in position to best give them a chance at winning.

I think Cody will be chomping at the bit to redeem himself in the Lsu game and if he is healthy this time, he's going to take up that new center and another lineman, opening up some nice LB rushes up the gut I think.

Cody will get injured again. Fatness=higher likelihood of knee injury

10-2 sounds about right.
I don't think we beat UF.
I DO think we beat UGA.
We probably split that Bama/Ole Miss series , although we have payback with both, and it has been another DECADE since we lost to those two in back to back years.
So 11-1 is a good possibility.
The we lose again to UF, then spank somebody in a bowl game.
So 11-3 maybe.

Fair enough. Except we haven't been able to beat Arkansas in 2 fricking years

I'll take a 10 and 2 season...but I'd rather kick myself in the nuts than lose to your team.

No, it's not "wishful thinking talking", it's just the facts. Alabama lost two All-Americans on their line. They are breaking in new starters at OT, OC, and OG, and also TE. The Tide do not have as good of an OL this year. Period, end of discussion.
Until now, I didn't think anyone would argue that.
And yes, LSU has the same quality of OT this year as last, given that both of our OT's return.
